A brief explanation on how to setup an AFR correction graph that you can use to quickly whip your VE tables into shape. This is a follow up to my Wideband via EGR sensor video and includes the math formula you'll need to setup your graph with that gauge method.
**You will need to look in the scanner for the sensor ID number for your application. For EXAMPLE the ID number for my EGR is 2811, yours may be different. **

holy crap thank you for this. I've been pulling my hair out for days trying to figure this out. finally got a couple hours straight to wrap my head around this and actually get it dialed in. they changed the software since the last time I've done this by backfeeding thru the EGR but I'm using an AC pressure sensor now.

Literally the most laid back video I've watched yet simplified everything, only thing I'm trying to understand is the math I have readings in the 10 kpa cells only, on my afr err, im using an aem 30-4110 uneder serial input, any advice on how.to.fix this?

Check that your graph is formatted correctly in the settings. It needs to have the entire range of kpa that you want to log.

Question. Your using your egr sensor as your reference for the wide band, or you’re using an afr kit in the place of egr sensor? I’m pretty sure it’s the first option, I’m just making sure you didn’t need an afr gauge installed to make these revisions.

I'm using an AEM wideband gauge that has a 0-5 volt output reference. That reference is then input into the EGR pin of the pcm, then in the scanner I can log the EGR voltage (EGR voltage is also 0-5 volt) no EGR sensor is used, just the wiring input that goes into the computer. Then you basically change the math so that the scanner displays a numerical value based off the voltage it sees on the EGR pin.

Hi, are you able to explain in further detail about how to do the math parameters for the AFR Error please?

I was hoping you could explain again what you typed in, so the histogram knows the difference between commanded afr vs actual afr. Thanks

only problem and i cant figure this out but the graph works once... that's it. if i stop logging and go back, it wont work again. no clue why. changed map sensors and verified everything was right...

It has to be saved, it's been a while since I've used the software since converting to ms3 but remember that there is a particular way to save all of the charts, graphs and maths.

I have seen that equation for AFR error used in several vids and various posts but after I set up my table using that equation all I got was no data in my cells. Shows that something was logged but no data. Someone pointed out that 2811 is the PID for EGR voltage. Shouldn’t it be ([AFR actual]-[commanded AFR])/[commanded AFR] which would be in your case 60001-6001/6001? Then again I guess the formula (2811.10/5)+10 is the same thing. No idea why I’m not seeing numbers

As far as having no data showing, double check your pid to see what number is assigned to your egr or whatever input you are using, they're not all the same depending on operating system.

Thanks for the reply. I found out the hard way that sometimes things like a change in a math formula won’t work until you close then reopen the scanner.

When you log do you have it in open loop and fuel trims shut off?
@scottcoleman162
@scottcoleman162 5 жыл бұрын
I run a SD tune in my turbo application which is always open loop. I wouldn't allow closed loop when making adjustments to the VE table just to help simplify things.

Even after youre done tuning? Leave it in open loop?
@scottcoleman162
@scottcoleman162 5 жыл бұрын
No when you're done and happy with the VE table you can restore closed loop. I don't run closed loop because I only use wideband sensor (no narrow bands), it stays pretty consistent considering... The only time I get AFR fluctuations is when there's a dramatic outside temperature change and then it's just a matter of trimming or adding a small percent of fuel to get it all back in line.

ludovic charest guerard, the numbers that designate the sensors are different depending on pcm or operating system. You'll need to lookup the sensor in the scanner to see what yours are numbered.
