I have a similar rig with E5-2620 V4, 48GB RAM, RTX 2070, HP PCIE 512GB SSD, etc... I'll have to try some comparison benchmarks. Also I am shopping for a E5-2667 V3 CPU at the moment to give it a small boost. I'll get back to you sometime...

I have a hp z840 with a gtx 1060 6gb, e5-2680 v4 and 32 gb ddr4 2400mhz ram, I want to upgrade my system to make this pc a beast but I am worried about bottlenecks, do you have any recommendations for what to upgrade? Most preferably gpu and cpu, thanks!

Have you tried the E5 2643v4 processor? It's a lot better for gaming than the one you have here (just saying). It would still bottleneck with this GPU but will rock some extra fps out of it.

Yes, the E5-2643 V4 is a good high clock speed cpu for the Z840.

I am actually benchmarking the 2609 v4, 2620 v3 2643 v4, 2667 v4, 2680v4 and 2687WV4 and thing the 2667 v4 gives the balance of core count vs clock speed. You should also play with turning hyperthreading off since I noticed 2680 and 2687 had weird 3dmark scores with it on. At some point I will put a video together with the tests using a 3060ti and possibly a 3070 if i can do it with out burning my house down. I'm also going to bench mark the 640 vs 840 to see if there is a difference. Also, my limited testing of with and with shows that having 2 cpu's doesn't do much.

will e5 2680's help? or are they too slow
@GreenPCGamerscom Жыл бұрын
It depends on what you are using the system for. For gaming, we normally go for higher clock speeds CPU's. The E5-2680 V3 or V4 are a higher core count cpu's, which would be better for business applications. However, they can be decent for gaming as well. (only go with 1 cpu if are strictly gaming) Hopefully this info helps you!

=) It's always tempting to use 144Hz or more for testing. However, we normally use 60hz because that it what almost all of the users in our community are using. Thanks for commenting!

Yes, there is quite a bit of bottle-necking when installing an RTX 2080 Ti in to a Z840 for PC Gaming.
