@@leethompsonart maybe its fate but the power supply just popped yesterday, luckily spare parts are not extortionate and should be receiving the replacement today. The machine has been relatively reliable otherwise so I still see many years of service from this tank!

Have the same workstation, got it out of the trash at work, and my RX 5700xt just arrived! 3 years late to your comment but hey the card's still a beast. My other system has a 1080ti And my gf's PC has my old wtr cooled OCed 980ti. Next upgrade will be to the 3080ti (biggest gpu I can fit in my case) From 3 great value decisions to one bad one lol

Gaming performance suffers if you're running NUMA configuration and get process migration between the sockets. You can explicitly make sure that doesn't happen tho by assigning affinity to just use one of the CPUs. You can also automate that with tools like Process lasso.

im using such a workstation for gaming with dual 8c xeon cpu e5-2667v2 with z840 optional coolers on win11 with numa on and hyperthreading off. no problem whatsoever scoring 17000 on timespy (3dmark benchmark) and having 150+ fps on bf2042. but i wouldnt say that dual cpu will give you better perfs in games, i dont want to disappoint you but it could be the other way around (in most cases), depends on game engine and the number of cpu threads it can use. can only say you that this setup will work with games (somewhat) and that it works nicely for me :)

What graphics card are you currently using on your HP Z600 and Z800? The Z600 and Z800 both support 2 processors. However, multiple CPU sockets don't normally translate to better FPS in games.

@@GreenPCGamerscom I use R9 390 Club 3D Card, but i can not come abbout 71fps in my HP Z800, the maximum is 70 fps, it makes no differents when i play with 720p or 1080p or 1444p. It is a Bios problem?

@@jamesearl4508 Slower memory speeds comparing to Z820. PCI-E slot on Z800 is ver2 and Z820 Ver3. Not sure if Z800 supports SATA3 but Z820 for sure does support it.

Most PCIe x16 GPU's that will fit in the chassis will work. Did you recently upgrade the gpu and not it is not working?

@@GreenPCGamerscom yeah it didnt have one in it when i picked it up so i put my gt250 2gb into it and it didnt put out anything, I've got an AMD HD 7660 (i think it is I'll check when I'm next on my main pc) and I'm planning on trying that when my new card gets here to replace it, if that doesn't work then I'll be completely stuck, apart from any advice you have, there's not really alot online i could find

Do you have 2 processors installed in the system? One of the x16 slots and one of the x8 slots only work with dual processors installed, Google hp z820 quickspec and you'll find out which.

you have a tesla compute card in there. if you plan on editing, leave it in there and get a decent quadro that will double for gaming. Or just get a 1080 and use the tesla for physics and or compute. The tesla in yours is for crunching hard data. Especially during compression .

I got both sockets filled but running a old quadro 5000 ... I do not use mine for gaming ...i use it to run multiple social media accounts and platforms some live streaming

It's a spendy model if you don't already own one. You should look at Dell Precision T7610's. They are cheaper and use the same components.

yes absolutely. Its a server in small form factor. I use a 600 for a media center and hub for all storage. It doubles as my Gaming pc. I watch 4k content on it all the time. Am upgrading to the 820 next. I encourage you the same. I also run FL studio and Adobe premier pr with no issue.

You do not need to use NVMe. You can absolutely just use a large capacity SSD and achieve good performance.
