Thank you, I was having hard time removing the gear off of the fuel pump, found your video useful. Thank you sir.

You're welcome, it took me a while to figure out as well. Kind of dumb that they made it hard to see like that.

I’ve been lucky so far. I have a 2011 deleted with MiniMaxx tuner and had to replace the lift pump around 200k miles. I was nervous buying a brand new design but so far so good. Reverse flow heads make a big difference on minimizing turbo lag.
@builditgarage5 ай бұрын
I thought the reverse flow was weird at first but it grew on me. It was a good idea for the turbo. Makes a mess with the intake though.

Buddy, I finished watching you video. Perhaps I was premature in judging you. I am very proud of you considering how you did this job. However, if I can give you some constructive criticism. In the future you should always torque your bolts and NEVER reuse the old fuel lines. They can leak. They are a one time use only because they are crush fittings. But again, I am VERY proud of you. Great job...
@builditgarage2 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the feedback. I didn't realize the lines were one time use. Good to know for the future and anyone watching.

@@builditgarage Again, you did a great job for doing it in your garage. Just keep an eye on the fuel lines going into the pump. You can still look down into the valley and make sure it doesn't puddle up. If it does make sure you replace them ASAP. I hate to see you have a fire. I am truly sorry if I came across strong. I just care.

@@ronhannink1968 it is no problem. I appreciate the comments and information. I actually traded the truck in on a PowerBoost 1.5 years after doing the upgrade it just took me a really long time to make the video. I finally got back into editing after 10 years of life. Editing is the hardest part of posting a car repair video. Hopefully I can make better content in the future.

Hey I have a 2017 runs drives starts fine except when I’m towing a load behind or just giving gas to pass a car mechanic checked my pressures were good with scan tool and when put under load from the scanner, checked and changed all fuel filters no metal, what were you experiencing when it was found to be the pump? I do t wanna spend a bunch of mo ey if I don’t need to right now
@builditgarage6 ай бұрын
I was getting a check engine light for the fuel pressure. Then if I tried accelerating hard it would lose power, especially if I had a load.

Take a drift punch and tap the pump spindle until it breaks free

How high is that lift and what size tires you got?
@builditgarage11 ай бұрын
It had a 4 inch lift (if I remember correctly) with 35x13.5r20 tires on it.

around the 25 min mark, i turned this guy off. no you do not need to drain the radiator nor do you have to take off the water cross over pipe.
@builditgarage2 ай бұрын
Right, I took the pump out a couple times. The first time I took the coolant pipes apart because the instructions I had seen all said to do that. But then the next time I took it apart I didn't want to mess with that so I left that all together. I still showed the removal of the pump with the cross tube out so that what I was doing was more visible. There is a note on screen about that at the 53:00 mark. I then at the end of this video show how I am able to get the pump out with that cross pipe in place.
@TheSojourner672 ай бұрын
Fair enough. Yes for us that don’t do it regularly, this pump can be a prick. I also found I had a missing bolt that the dealer decided to not put back in when they rebuilt the motor. I also had a turbo oil line leaking in the valley and surprised it didn’t drip to the ground. I watched so many videos I almost can do it without instructions. Honestly not sure why I replied as “what does it hurt to drain the radiator.” Just extra work. Sorry.
@builditgarage2 ай бұрын
@TheSojourner67 no problem. I took mine to the dealer originally as well and they charged me a lot to not fix the issue. So I feel for your frustration on them breaking stuff on your truck. They get in too much of a rush and don't care as much as they should. Hope you get yours fixed.

Bud, I will have to say your ambition is wonderful. Air or electric tools would have helped you a lot more and much faster. I hope you put everything back correctly. However, this should be a video on how NOT to do this job.....
@builditgarage2 жыл бұрын
I have air and electric and you are right I should use them more. I am not a seasoned mechanic so a lot of the things I do are first time so I might not do them the conventional or best way. Just trying to help people know they can do their own work. Thanks for watching.
