Was honestly very skeptical of Prosight before this video but that looked really good. Great video! All they would need now to completely win me over would be a Fatshark goggle receiver module.
8 жыл бұрын
That's not happening though. Even putting the size restraints aside, the module bay only has analog inputs, so yeah....

Thanks for doing this mate. A latency test please. also would be great if next time you take it out fly behind some things that would cause significant snow on the standard set up. Long distance, stuff. behind thick far away trees.

agreed, a range test would also be nice. Its rated for 100mw, so I'm having a hard time imagining that it will out range my unify pro 800mw... I pre ordered one anyway, so fingers crossed it works as hoped!

Lightbridge is a great system, but its latency is 150ms. Foxtech did a latency test of this Connex system with a timer running and the Connex sytem shows between .05-.06 sec or 50-60ms delay. This is still not as fast as analog, BUT this is the first HD system that is actually fast enough to race. Racing quad are capable of approaching 100mph, while Lightbridge is great for photo/videography, its not quite fast enough to race. For example, at 100mph, with Lightbridge, your quad will actually be 21.64 ft ahead of where you perceive it through goggles at 150ms delay. With this Connex system, at 100mph, your quad will only be 6.86ft ahead of where you perceive it through goggles at 50-60ms delay. The Connex system to me is the first viable HD race system.
@AlexMageethefirst8 жыл бұрын
cj2006sd I got a connex, and stuck it on my armattan f1-6. Its not race ready imo. The system works very well (aside from the crazy pixelation when signal drops) but its kinda stuttery.... like playing counterstrike at 20 fps. I think that this system is best used for chilled cruising where you can admire the pretty picture, for racing I will stick to my good old 5.8 200mw vtx and la forge diversity receiver for now. It works much better, and I'm not throwing hundreds of $ worth of gear at a race gate. I think V2 could be pretty special though, i've not given up.
@AlexMageethefirst8 жыл бұрын
mPky1 indirectly yes. There are no spare parts available yet, and as the antenna is kinda vulnerable I think it is more likely to get hurt in a crash. Having said that the main reasons i say its not going to take off in the race world are the low frame rate, extra weight of gear and unpredictable break up. I think the reasons it could work for racing are the digital signal is paired to the receiver, like an RX, so no more messing with dip switches between heats, and the carrier signal allows for way more pilots to be in the air. I'm waiting for a firmware update or something, The connex system has the potential to change everything, but I think its only 70% of the way there. I've left it at home the last couple of times i've gone out, put it that way.

Awesome video. I'd love to see some flying behind large trees - the sort where the analog goes fairly snowy but you can still fly through OK. If the Connex is also flyable around large trees then I'm in for one! I wonder if this system can connect to the Fatshark Attitude V3s via an HDMI-RCA connector?
@TonyFong_NorcoT8 жыл бұрын
awesome video. like many others I'd like to know about range, not the range itself but how the video cuts out or degrades when. a big fear from moving from analogue is the video just cutting out without warning when signal is weak.

What about flight time and flight characteristics? Do we really need that big T/fairing style antenna for HD? Can it be simplified/made aerodynamic? Looks like it will break easily, then what do Connex charge for replacements or can we make/3D print ourselves. Carbon fibre antenna comes to mind.

The next test needs to be outside. I'd like to see how the camera adjusts to changes in lighting conditions (in and out of shadows). The main reason the HS1177 and PZ0420 have been the standard is due to the DWDR feature, which makes it possible to see details in both bright and dark portions of the screen. Can the Connex system do the same?
