I am so glad you did NOT do one thing. The first row of the larger air hole/ rectangles is butt high to cattle. Some cattle have done their duty out that hole because of the stress of the movement and possibly knowing what is at the end of the trip. At 16 years old I worked at my dad's truck stop. I was the pressure washer operator and I only washed one; it was "new" to the guy and he wanted to get the exterior cleaned up, which was pointless in many respects. Hydrofluoric acid was used on the aluminum sides, and since the corrosion was so deep in the aluminum it did not clean up so well. I have an indellable memory of manure running down the side of the freshly powerwashed sections. It was not ready to go the any truck show, but the guy was more than happy with getting most of the blackened corrosion back to "white". Fun times. Great job on the kit.... And the weathering!

Trailer floors on bull haulers are usually silver aluminum, but they will turn brown soon enough. When I built mine, I put a cord on the sliding back door, just for show.

Wondering about the mud flaps. Are there rubber molded flaps available, aftermarket? Have you seen rubber flaps supplied, ever? Since they mold rubber tires, I think it would really add to the detail having rubber flaps too.
@hpiguy6 жыл бұрын
These are hard plastic. They do make some from softer rubber, or you could cut your own out pretty easy.

Good looking build Chris, I don't see myself building a trailer like this but if I did I would probably torture myself by painting the horizontal slats on the sides a wood tone with steel vertical supports (even though they should all be aluminium) and then rusting and weathering everything.

nice job only think I do on those type of wheels is I Always paint the hubs one color and then the wheels get painted white. In your model I'd went with black hubs due to your frame being black. they would have been that way from the factory when new then the wheels white. That really makes the hubs stick out from the white wheels.

Not to gripe, but why would anyone want to represent the base-model of anything? It would be more fun to class it up, IMO.
@hpiguy6 жыл бұрын
Because in the real world most heavy trucks are work vehicles, not show vehicles. I like to make fancy stuff sometimes too, but I have a like for the workhorses.
@MFKR6966 жыл бұрын
The real world kinda sucks if you ask me, so I'd rather have models that impress me, instead of getting by with the base-models. I dunno about you, but a white trailer looks boring as hell to me. Where's the creativity? Where's the sense of style? The blue-collar mandate is kinda silly. Slaves that take pride in their chains are not worthy of respect.
@hpiguy6 жыл бұрын
The thing about model kits is, when you buy yours you can build it the way you want to. There is no 'mandate'. Your slave comment is absurd and ignorant. People build their kits the way they want to. Just because I didn't make it a big bright glossy show truck with chrome and high gloss the way YOU want it made doesn't mean that I'm a slave or blue collar. Lighten up man. It's a toy model. Go build a model and have a nice time making it the way you like it to look. This is a hobby. You're taking it way way way way way way too seriously.
