#Jeep #Wrangler #Rubicon 1/25 Scale Model Kit Build Review, Painting, Detailing
Originally produced as a military vehicle, the iconic Jeep vehicles haves survived to be one of the longest, continuously produced automobiles in history. Changing to meet the demands of the American consumer, the Jeep is more popular than ever. However, the basic features which won it for the military contract, can still be found in today's Jeep vehicles. It is rugged, aggressive and fun to drive.
The Jeep Rubicon edition is named after the Rubicon Trail in the Sierra Nevada Mountains. The Jeep brand, now owned by Fiat-Chrysler, is one of the top selling car lines in the world. In 1963,a version of the original Jeep vehicle made claim to being the first sports utility vehicle (SUV). It has come a long way from it humble beginnings as a reconnaissance vehicle for the U.S. Army. Features
Stock production fenders, wheels and roll over bar.Off road tires.Rear mounted spare tire and front bumper fog lights.Working spring suspension.Molded in white and clear with chrome plated parts and soft black tires.92 Parts.
The Jeep Wrangler is a series of compact and mid-size (Wrangler Unlimited and Wrangler 2-door JL) four-wheel drive off-road SUVs, manufactured by Jeep since 1986, and currently in its fourth generation. The Wrangler JL, the most recent generation, was unveiled in late 2017 and is produced at Jeep's Toledo Complex.The Wrangler is arguably an indirect progression from the World War II Jeep, through the CJ (Civilian Jeeps) produced by Willys, Kaiser-Jeep and American Motors Corporation (AMC) from the mid-1940s through 1980s. Although neither AMC nor Chrysler (after its purchase of AMC in 1987) have claimed that the Wrangler was a direct descendant of the original military model - both the CJ Jeeps and the conceptually consistent Wrangler, with their solid axles and open top, have been called the Jeep model as central to Jeep's brand identity as the rear-engined 911 is to Porsche.[1]Similar to the Willys MB and the CJ Jeeps before it, all Wrangler models continue to use a separate body and frame, rigid live axles both front and rear, a tapering nose design with flared fenders, a fold-flat windshield, and can be driven without doors. Also, with few exceptions, they have part-time four-wheel drive systems, with the choice of high and low gearing, and standard are open bodies with removable hard- or soft-tops. However, the Wrangler series was specifically redesigned to be safer and more comfortable on-road, to attract more daily drivers,[2] by upgrading its suspension, drivetrain, and interior, compared to the CJ line. The suspension on all Wranglers included trackbars and anti-roll bars, and, from the 1997 TJ onwards, front and rear coil springs instead of the previous leaf-springs.[3]From 2004 on, the Wrangler has been complemented with long-wheelbase versions, called Wrangler Unlimited (until the release of the JK generation). 2004-2006 models were longer versions with 2 doors. In 2004 only automatic transmission equipped “Unlimited” versions were sold. In 2005 both an automatic and manual 6-speed (NSG-370) were offered. Since 2007, the long-wheelbase Wranglers were four-door models, offering over 20 in (508 mm) more room. By mid 2017 the four-door models represented three quarters of all new Wranglers on the market
The Jeep Wrangler received the 2009 Best Resale Value Award from Kelley Blue Book (KBB) in the sport utility vehicle category. In 2012 and for 2013, it was also awarded the Best Resale Value Award from Kelly Blue Book in the compact sport utility vehicle category.[15][16] The Wrangler also holds the Models to Best Hold Its Value recognition from Kelley Blue Book for 1998, 1999, 2003, 2011, and 2012.[17][18][19]The 2011,[20] 2012,[21] and 2013[22] Jeep Wranglers have received Canadian Black Book's Best Retained Value Award for the compact SUV category.In 2007, The Jeep Wrangler had set the Guinness World Record for highest altitude attained by a four-wheeled vehicle after ferrying Matthias Jeschke and his Extrem Events adventure team up Chile's Ojos del Salado, the highest volcano on Earth (record beaten the same year by a Suzuki Samurai [23]). The trek from base camp to the world record height ran from March 7 to March 13, when the team's pair of Wrangler Rubicon Unlimiteds checked in at 6,646 metres (21,804 ft).In 2007 and for 2013, the magazine Four Wheeler awarded the Jeep Wrangler with its Four-Wheeler of the Year Award[24][25] and in January 2010, they awarded the Jeep Wrangler Unlimited Rubicon its title of 4x4 of the Decade.

With my Wrangler kit, I’m using some parts from the previous Rubicon kit. Watching your video here and building mine, I got the idea to get another one and do my own version of the Jurassic Park Wrangler.

Hi Chris, love your videos, mate! After 30+ years building nothing but airliners, watching your vids drove me to 1/25 scale cars. Have to say I’m loving it so far, though I just finished my second one. Currently looking forward to build a nice movies car collection. Ecto 1A was first, and just finished the DeLorean time machine (Mk.1) earlier today. This Jeep will join the fleet now - will carry a nice Jurassic Park colour scheme on it. Yeah, it’s not exactly this Jeep model they had in the movies, but hey, it’ll still look great if I can print some good decals to it (have some experience here already). Too many nice cars to join this movies collection! The Batmobile, Mach 5, Wacky Races Mean Machine, The Men in Black 3 Ford Galaxie 500, the Love Bug, the Mystery Machine, etc, and many of them already seen on your channel, so thanks in advance for the hard work you put into this! All the best! Eduardo

wooow- loving this kit- easily designed to be a quick weekender kit! Revell has definately come up thirty notches with their kits lately. Im building a '70 Challenger T/A right now, and it's a DREAM! This kit packsa a lot into a small box, and looks like it assembles in nothing flat! Extra kudos for throwing in those sweet shocks, screws, instrument panel decal, and making everything so easy to line up and press fit in!! Beautiful paint job!!!

I've seen the old version of this kit and never knew it was a curbside kit. The chassis would be cool to use on other vehicles too. It would have been nice if it came with an emergency light bar for the roof. The decal blooper was pretty funny!

Thank you for the video. Very nice presentation. Your kit came out really nice. I like that you have fun and do what you want to do. I bought this kit a while ago and I'm just starting it. I actually own a real 2005 Wrangler that is very similar to this. For modelers looking for tips, there's no shiny black anywhere on the vehicle, including the interior. All plastic is flat or satin. The gas tank is like a rubberized black. And the exhaust pipe is like a metal color. There's no chrome anywhere. The wheels are aluminum though and they are satin. I purchased the Testors Extreme spray paint for the body on my model. Im doing it a gloss black Rubicon without snorkel, like mine🙂

I’m building a replica of my 98 TJ. However the paint will be a bit difficult cause my real life one is a special edition Chili Pepper Red and the paint is hard to find and there is no model paint equivalent to it. I’m also making it a regular model with an inline 6 from anther kit.

Neat kit. I find it odd tho that there's "that much" flash on a mold that is roughly 10 yrs old (or even less). As you said, it's not the end of the world, just that from what I know flash depend on the wear of the molds. And lifegaurd XD. Wonder if they'll correct it for the main release.

I've wanted to ask this 100 times but you probably answered it 100 times... but why do you keep the parts on the tree when you paint? seems to me it's hard to clean up this demises and how to you paint once you cut it off the tree? it's so weird to me that you do that but seems like theirs a reason. Love your vids.

Lovely build Chris. I like the older Jeep Wranglers, but in the more “streetable” Sahara edition. I have a soft spot for those. I noticed you have been using Testors Glosscote for shining up flat interior parts. Whatever happened to the more simple Future floor polish trick to gloss up interior parts?

Great build and paint. All it needs now is Pamela Anderson in a red bikini hanging off it and it would be perfect. And LOL they spelt guard wrong. Well, nobody's perfect I guess, but you'd have thought somebody would have noticed before it went on sale. Either way, fantastic finish. Great vid, thanks for sharing.

I’m a newbie builder here. Tried building this kit as close to the steps you laid out in the video. When I use Tamiya extra thin cement to glue the flat black primed parts together, the paint come off on my cement brush. Same thing happened to the brush for the glosscote. I waited about 12 hours after painting. Did I need to wait longer? Thanks.

Model glue will take any paint off. You use super glue to attach final parts after painting.

Ok, thanks. Is there a recommended super glue?

It looks like this Jeep kit is a good one. Do you know if it would be possible to use parts of a non curbside Jeep kit with this one. I would love to use the body (trim and such), and the interior parts with a non curbside Jeep kit. No I know that some modification would be necessary (I.e. cutting the hood open).

If it's the same scale it should be doable.

Nice build Chris! Did you have any issues fitting the body onto the chassis? I had a Rubicon kit and I could not get the front of the body to meet the holes in the frame despite having the rear panel in the correct place..

None, the back pushes in and then the front screws down. When I have issues I go over them but this was trouble free.

Chris, hey I know this isn't a nascar build but I had a question. Do you or did you ever build the AMT/Ertl Nascar kits? What were your thoughts on them? Thanks!!

Wonderful video. Accidentally hit a thumbs down by mistake. Fat fingers and king nails. But thumbs up for this video. Bought this for bro. Just have a question. What is model cement required mean for assembly of this kit
@hpiguy
@hpiguy Жыл бұрын
Any liquid model cement will work fine. Places like craft stores should have it. Plastruct Bondene Tamiya Extra Thin Testors liquid cement Revell Contacta Those are all good brands of model cement.
