An interesting tidbit. Motorcycles were used by bootleggers as well as law enforcement during prohibition. When bringing in a load of booze bootleggers would hire motorcycle clubs to ride around the place of where the delivery was to take place then report to the truck drivers where the cops were positioned

Holy crap I totally feel your pain with that hood flub. Just about a few hours before settling down to watch this I was outside the truck spraying the body and sleeper of the AMT International Transtar 4300 Eagle. Sprayed the sleeper...no problems, sprayed the cabin...no problems, started the hood and it falls off the holder and into the grass. Just lovely.

A minor suggestion: it isn’t a rear seat - it’s either a rumble seat or a mother-in-law seat. Great car.
@matthewmoran1249
@matthewmoran1249 4 жыл бұрын
That's a rumble seat, jump seats are in touring cars and limo's. Also, the bike is a Henderson, made in Detroit, and is what the D.P.D. used at the time. Indians had leaf spring girder forks. The side door was for golf bags. Man that brings back memories, I built that when I was a kid. I hope they reissue the two Lincoln's. Great job on the build !

Thanks for your detailed review. I have one of these on order, and I have plans to build a series of Prohibition-themed vehicles, including a modified "Beverly Hillbillies" truck and a converted Model T truck as 'Bootlegger's vehicles.' (I found a picture online of a truck hauling a fake load of lumber, and another of a tanker truck with a hollow compartment!) That motorcycle will go well with the recently re-issued Model T Police Car. I realize that a 1932 Chrysler is a bit "late" for Prohibition (which was repealed in 1933.) But overall, this model captures the "look and feel" of the era, and is definitely something The Mob Boss would drive. Again, thanks!

I love these old kits being re-issued...old guys building old kits...I'm11 years old again! Mom I promise not to get any spray (rattle can) paint on the basement floor. I won't tell her how I stole (appropriated) one of her emery boards and the nail clippers. I vaguely recall doing the semi-assembled parts left on runner for painting - Great video!

I built a past issue of this last year. No motorcycle. My front wheels didn't come out anywhere as straight up as yours. Nice build! Beautiful. I never finshed the accessories or the gangsters either. Your builds make me wonder if I'm just trying too hard sometimes to get thigs "just so". Seemed like my build went on forever.

It is tempting to say this is your best model yet. But I've resisted saying it in the past. Because as good as this one is I suspect you'll pull another rabbit out of your hat on a future model. So allow me to say this may not be the best you'll ever do but it is one fine bit of work. Very nicely done. If I hadn't seen the plastic parts I would have guessed it was die cast.

I really like the way you build and how you emphasize building the model " your" way. I've picked up quite a few valuable tips, including the idea of not trying to super detail everything. The engines and running gear are my favorite part of my builds, so I like to wire the plugs and fuel lines, maybe add some non- stock parts. For example, with the gang busters Chrysler I might add a supercharger to the straight 8, sort of like a " rumrunner". I have this one in my stash, so..I really enjoyed your build of the Jolly Green Gasser and subsequently ordered a copy from AMT which just arrived. Thanks for the alternative outlook and build on, sir, build on. I'll be here watching 👀

Great kit, outstanding build. I always liked that kind of car- reminded me more of locomotives than airplanes, but there you are. Fun fact- that little door between the passenger door and right rear fender was for the golf club compartment. If you weren't a mashie-niblick kind of guy it would also fit your Chicago typrewriter (Thompson submachine gun)!

Simply exquisite, nevertheless the car wasn't of those very fine cars of that time. I remember as if it was just a day ago when my father built a Duessenberg in 1/25 green and that folks, was a jewel. With the time, I got my own Duessy but in red wine color. Where did it end up? in the hands of one of my nephews and honestly talking, that was one of the most stupid errors of my whole life. I guess that the poor best ended up all torn apart in broken pieces. When ones is a stupid jerk....... Thank you Chris. Superb model! That straight 8 engine looks so real. Love your work.

That's a really nice model, especially with figures and a motorcycle included. Nice work as always. In one of your earlier videos, you asked if the viewers like music or not. I do like music, but in particular, the classical stuff is great fun to listen to while watching you spray paint. I think you had selected some music from 2001 Space Odyssey. 🙂

I remember stuff from when I was Four like it was yesterday, but then I can't remember yesterday. MPC/Airfix issued three of the original "Gang Busters" series the The Lincoln Roadster "Bootleggers" with cases of Booze and a Female Driver. The Chrysler Six as this kit represents and another which I don't remember what it was. A few kits were later added to the series which included a Pickup, but I dond think they included the "Gangsters" or the accessories. Also Great job on the Model and very helpful info.👍

Excellent, as always. And great synopsis of your builds, not show builds, no 9 weeks of color sanding, etc. Just what you can do for a quick quality build. A+

Great build love it. Building this at the moment was going to go black and red but I love your colour combo so will do it close to that.

Great looking car Chris, love the color choice, that little side door is where you would put your golf bag and clubs when you were going to the country club, to bad they did not include a policeman figure for the motorcycle

just a thought, This kit, with all of it's xtras, would pair VERY well with one of AMT's garage dioramas- Imagine dressing the garage up as a gangster 'safehouse' or maybe somewhere the boss sent his boys to 'collect a payment'. It would be somewhere to really set off all those little goodies, and 'tell a story' :)

@@hpiguy "..now see here, me and Knuckles are here to collect see- the boss don't like it when yer late! You stash these diamonds for us and give us a place to lay low until the heat's off, and maybe the boss will go easy on ya next month. Don't be a wise guy, give the car a good wax, and things will go easy for ya- ya might even make a little on the side...' man. this diorama begs to be made! LOL
