HPR High Plains Raceway C6 Z06 THAT EXHAUST SOUND!

This was my fastest lap of the day, but the mistakes I made-overslowing for T3 and T4/T5 as well as botching the exit of T11-means I could have gone a few tenths faster.
Fun to watch for: the car paints a couple of stripes on the exit of T6 at 1:10. :)
This car has a stock drivetrain aside from a Corsa X-pipe and catback exhaust. The GoPro was micced by a cheap external (wired) microphone placed above the license plate on the rear bumper cover.

Note: Unfortunately my phone that was being used for lap timing and basic data acquisition (just speed and G-force) with the TrackAddict app fell off the mount earlier during this session (3rd "fast" group session, starting at 3 pm), so the cornering force data was all garbage.

Different suspension settings, TrackSpec hood vents (which relieve pent-up air pressure under the hood, effectively increasing front grip at higher speeds), and new rear tires... the front tires are now pretty much spent/bald (315/30-18 NT01s). It's a work in progress.

Did you notice oil or coolant temperature drop due to the hood vents?

King Road Studio: unfortunately, i could not see an improvement in oil or coolant temps with the new hood vents... and it wasn't even CLOSE to hot this past Sunday. BUT, I did feel an improvement in front grip with the vents, so that's a significant benefit IMO.

The cameras are super old-school GoPro Hero2 and Hero3... after the Hero2, GoPro discontinued having a separate 1/8" external microphone jack (with the later models, you lose the ability to have a power cord feeding the camera power while using an external mic). The data/map comes from the TrackAddict timing app, and for higher accuracy, you need to feed the app faster than 1hz (all most phones' built-in GPS can do) data... I use the old Qstarz 818XT which connects to the phone via Bluetooth. BUT, I've been having issues with weird/inaccurate map traces and speed data (you can see it in this video too, with how fast the speed changes). Something's not working correctly and I haven't figured out what the issue is (is it the app? My phone's memory being too full? The BT GPS unit is failing/dying?)

Glad you enjoyed it. While driving the car on track, my attention is otherwise occupied, so having recorded this video with the close-micced exhaust sound is really enjoyable for me to be able to hear too, especially since I no longer own the car. ☹️

holy shit thats moving. and i have the same vents on my c5, but modified front intake and oil cooler. i actually did notice an appreciable drop in temps (about 20 degrees) and it holds stable as long as im on track. first time i could actually go as long as the fuel tank could hold out - which was evident by the fact i actually ran out of gas for the first time at a track. cant wait to see this thing in person!

Similar... C5 Z06 is substantially smaller displacement V8 though, so probably less deep of a sound... 5.7L (LS1) vs 7.0L of the C6 Z06's LS7

It might sound kinda familiar with the same setup but the C5 has a completely different engine than the C6 Z06. C5 has the 5.7L LS1 and the C6 Z06 has the 7L LS7

Was the c7 getting used to the track doing test laps?

If you watch from 0:23 to 0:30, you can see the silver C7 Vette entering the track via the pit-out road... it's on the left, between turns 1 and 2. So the C7 was on cold tires whereas I'd been lapping and had heat in mine. On big wide tires that take some time to build heat, I definitely take my first lap or two at only 6 to 8/10ths, until I can feel the tires come in. Also, this was an Emich-sponsored open lapping day, where a wide range of drivers come out to play... certainly possible this day was this driver's first time on track, whereas I've done many hundreds of laps at HPR.
