I just found out I have high-risk HPV and completed a colpscopy on Feb 13th. Im still waiting for results... After checking over my medical records, I've had abnormal pap smears for a few years, and my obgyn never told me. He also never told me I had HPV. I have never gotten a vaccine growing up. I just learned of HPV now at 35.

It took for me to switch gynecologists before it was even brought to my attention. I never even heard of a reflex test. I went for years with no idea there was even an issue. I went for my colpscopy earlier this month, and now I am scheduled in for a LEEP procedure next week. I'm about tired of being spread like an eagle on tables, but I am glad that my new gynecologist has been proactive.

Your such on open book, this something that should definitely be discussed With the teens out here not only to the female but the males as well on how they can be the carriers and not have any signs of having it I remember being in my late teens and my ex and I were sitting and talking about topics like this I was completely unaware of how much women go through especially when I was a teen out here just humping like a rabbit.

I just had my 4th Colposcopy today. I don’t understand why insurance will not pay to have these procedures done under General anesthesia? , I had to take anxiety meds before but didn’t stop the horrible pain ! When I’m 46 yr I have been through major surgeries but to be awake through this is absolute torture! There must be a better way to make it better for us! If these insurance companies would volunteer their staff to have this done maybe it would change their minds.

I really think it’s a skill level issue of the particular mD/obgyn. I had ny 2nd one done today and it was actually painless. It was a lady. The first one was with a male doctor who said it wouldn’t hurt and i felt like i got my soul punched out of me.

Same. Just had fourth yesterday. I think the pain depends on the type of biopsy. I was punch biopsied first time today. Pain was horrible compared to ones I’ve had in the past. Cervix was punch biopsied and had usual pain with endometrial biopsy. Obgyn is a woman.

I recently had one. I was extremely nervous. If you haven’t already had it. Just try your best to relax. It feels like you’re having period cramps during the process and a little pressure. I did take a ibuprofen afterwards because the cramps lasted a few hours afterwards.

Today I just got referred for an urgent colposcopy because of HPV, LSIL + abnormal cells. I'm not close with anyone who has experienced it so I'm trying to prepare myself the best I can. I don't want to cry or throw up. I'd imagine it'd be hard to stay still during it.

Hi this video was pretty helpful to me and made me realize I need to change my gyn. I’m being tested for abnormal cells every time every 6 months and it’s about to be 2 years since I’ve been diagnosed. The test comes back normal but I don’t think I’ve been tested for hpv. I didn’t know about a co-test until you’ve mentioned it. I think you should look into highfrequencytea they can help build your immune system. Challenging but worth it.

I just had a LEEP procedure today after my colposcopy biopsy sample came back as CIN 2. I have to go back for a follow up in May. My doctor advised me that I will need to get pap smears every 3 months until I get 3 consecutive normal paps, then after that every 6 months with 3 consecutive normal paps, and after that back to once a year. I really hope that I heal up well and that she got everything from this procedure because the colposcopy was painful with a good amount of bleeding. My LEEP procedure this morning was so uncomfortable. I asked my doctor why they don't just put you to sleep and she said most insurance companies don't want to pay for the anesthesia🤔 The LEEP is not something that you want to be awake for and told to hold still for. One sudden wrong movement could jack you up. I wish everyone the best of luck and blessings on their recovery journey.

I went through this in 2020 it was the most uncomfortable thing I’ve ever been through my entire life. I ended getting cryotherapy. (I had high grade 16/18)This is my last month getting my final Pap smear an then I can resume a routine every 3 years. I’m glad went to get checked out even though one of my friends told me not to worry about it. She literally told me to take boric acid an it will go away. Thanks for sharing your story
