Helen, you make it look so easy! I quilted along with you and although I have a long way to go before I'm half as good as you, I was somewhat impressed until I got to the background. I think I move my hands too fast and my peddle too slow as I had a whole bunch of ugly stitches and my echos were way off and way too wide. I think all that open space scares me. I'm going to try to slow down. Do you have any other suggestions to help me with the background quilting?

It looks close to the size I used when I made her Christmas Countdown pattern. I printed mine on two 11x17" pages, then added extra around the edges when I traced it (final piece - 22 x 28 ish) If I was doing this on a photocopier, I would try cutting the page in half and choosing the zoom option "statement to ledger" (this works to start with a 1/2 page of Letter paper (US and Canada) and expands each half to "ledger" - which is the size of two letter pages taped together. Edit: I'm playing with it now, and I might actually print it even bigger than that ... the "default" size looks like almost three pages wide (so, finishing at 25.5" x 33")

What thread do you use in bobbin? Do you change with each color? Invisible thread?

@Sandy Derry: I would think that any acrylic fabric paint would suit this. Or, if you already have acrylic paints, you can buy a fabric medium to mix with them to make them suitable.
