You have a beautiful quilt there. Not used stencils yet, I think I'd use the disappearing pen though. Nice to be able to use your grandmother's stencils. Thank you ladies.

The Quilter's Assistant is my FAVORITE Tool. I use it all the time and refer it to friends often!

This transfer paper is awesome, I’ve used parchment paper but you can’t see through it like you can with yours. I’m on the hunt now. Thanks for sharing 👍❤️🙂 22:48
I've used Golden Threads paper for years for quilting on my domestic machine. The biggest thing to remember is to use a permanent pen to trace the stencil so you don't pick up any ink or pencil with light thread.

Great tip!

I was told NOT to use permanent ink bc the needle can transfer it to the quilt and it may not wash out! 😬

@@susanmei9980 I have used blue pigma pens for almost 30 years without an issue.
@susanmei99805 ай бұрын
@@ellengordon4468 I just remembered: they recommended using the blue water erasable pen to trace on the paper. That way, if the ink does transfer it will wash out.

I love the Pounce produce and use the blue or pink chalk on the white or lighter fabrics.

I don't have a longarm (😢), but I like using stencils. For tracing them I love water soluble kind of fleece. I think originally it's meant for applique. But I find it much more easy, because I don't have to deal with tearing away any paper

If you have ProStitcher could you record your stitch path of the stencil and then save it for future use?
@HandiQuilter5 ай бұрын
YES!!!! You might want to take it into Designer to tidy it up a little though!

Can you use the stencils with a regular sewing machine if you lower the feed dogs?

What about the PINK and BLUE Pounce chalk? Can't you use that on the white fabric?
@HandiQuilterАй бұрын
You can if you test first and make sure that it will come out of the fabric. Some times the colored chalks can be tricky.

How do i find other videos showing how the rest of the quilt was quilted ie. the fill around the stencil, the lone star, and the center HST background?

This particular quilt was used in several videos. kzbin.info/www/bejne/m6HNdXWfq5WUjKs kzbin.info/www/bejne/n4eYdmebbpp6kLc kzbin.info/www/bejne/n5mzZIGKnpqNoKM There will be a microquilting video hopefully this week. As for the center of the lonestar, I am still debating on what to do with that!! I am thinking maybe a feathers video down the road???

Do you ever use the blue pounce?

I try to avoid it personally. I have heard some scary stories and don't want to risk it not coming out of my quilt. -Kristina

Hey Ms.Whitney--do you shorten your stitch length to make it easier to tear off the paper?? Thanks.
@HandiQuilter4 ай бұрын
I did not change my stitch length. I am pretty sure I did 12spi. You could definitely give that a try though!

Does this work well on a domestic machine?
@HandiQuilterАй бұрын
Stencils definitely work well for domestic machines. If you plan to use the paper, you will need to be cautious about having to roll it up to fit the quilt through your machine.
