We need Icelandic on Duolingo!! You could help us with that...

Exactly, they should stop to create courses of imagined languages and create courses of real languages, like Icelandic. I'm Brazilian and it's really hard to learn Icelandic. We need a good Icelandic course, like Duolingo.

Yeeeeessssss!!!!!!! I mean, they can’t pull off the old, “but it’s not spoken by a large amount of people”, because they’ve got Gaelic, and two made-up languages. Get your priorities together duolingo!

ᚴᚢᚦ ᚢᛁᚴᛁ But it's not duolingo that creates the courses, it is the people who decide to volunteer, so if she wanted she could be one of the people who help the create the course

bruno Oh yeah, you’re right. And to think, here we are complaining about how Duolingo isn’t doing its job when really we’re the ones who are supposed to be doing it. (By “we”, I mean Icelandic people, of which I am not) In that case, Icelandic people, what are you doing?

Grammatikken er en smule mer komplisert enn i de moderne skandinaviske språka, da. Se bare på ordet "enginn" (ingen), som må bøyes i hunkjønn, hankjønn og intetkjønn i alle fire kasus og i éntall og flertall. Puh! bin.arnastofnun.is/leit/enginn But I do enjoy a linguistic challenge! ;)

Duolingo is kind of fun, but it's useless if you have no one to talk to. I think if you were living in the country where you are learning languages it is useful. If you are not, then it's pointless. Language acquisition happens with social interaction...I think videos are more effective if you want to learn things without being in the country...but nothing can replace a teacher/being fully immersed. It has to do with SLA theory and what is effective in language learning.

Hello, and thanks! I speak five languages and I was just curious about icelandic. It is not so difficult. I find many roots with Indo-European. I will continue to see your posts. You're good. Just be confident, even if you're not a professional teacher, as you said. You're good!

Counting in japanese is pretty much the same !!! 1 to 10 is the base, once you know the 10 you put the number 2 and so on. 10 is JU. Ichi is one, JU ICHI is 11. ni is 2, NI JU is 20. 21 is NI JU ICHI. 1oo is Hyaku. the rest I forgot but the same apply. 9 is KYU, 90 is KYU JU. 999 becomes KYU HYAKY KYU JU KYU. Just like the roman numbers basicaly.

Thank you for the videos! Like you said, there aren't many resources for learning Icelandic so I appreciate you making these videos. For the next one, could you say each word realllllllly slowly at first? It's hard for someone who has never spoken Icelandic to hear all of the individual sounds. Maybe once super slowly, then once kind of slowly, then once normal speed? Thanks!
