I agree with your final thoughts; this handgun is a departure from the norm. In my range time, I shoot four different 1911s. And I still need time to adjust between them, even after several thousands of rounds through them. If you should maintain possession of the Tisas DS long enough to get at least a few hundred rounds through it, another shooting test might be indicated. As always, thank you for the review! HR, maybe replacing the rear site with a white dot (to better accommodate the front site) would get you where you what to as far as consistent accuracy. As you mentioned earlier in the analysis, most of your 1911s have the 3-dot mechanical site. That is what your eyes and shooting regiment are accustomed to.

I agree with you, my friend. Here in Brazil I have an Imbel GCMD1 (1911 model in 9mm) double stack. This type of grip requires readjustment of the hand (including the position of the trigger finger). A few hundred rounds and a lot of training without ammo at home can solve.

Glad to see you venture out of your norm. I have have multiple traditional 1911s and a few double stacks. All are routinely carried. Another quality informative video-something I do appreciate and have come to rely on from your productions, and you never fail to deliver. My pistol life began with the M1911A1 long ago when it was a standard issue item, and the one experience I had with a 2011 was my buddy's Para-Ordnance full sized double stack. For me, it was the same in that the controls were in the same places and the manual of arms identical, but there was something about that grip that felt foreign as if I were shooting a very different pistol. There is something about the ergonomics of a 1911 which makes me compare every pistol to it. You are the "fair and balanced" reviewer of firearms sir!

My Staccato came with a full-length guide rod by Dawson Precision that doesn't require any tools, paperclips, etc. Since it takes the spring tension off the slide stop, I find that it breaks down even easier than a GI-style 1911 without the full-length guide rod. I believe you can get the Dawson Precision rods for other 1911's as well. If I didn't have the staccato already, I'd be ordering one of these Tisas DS pistols as soon as I could get to my local FFL. That may still end up happening if they start making about a version in .45ACP or 10mm...

Another excellent review of today’s contemporary handguns. HR your reviews are always well filmed, well organized, well presented. Watching you shoot, and getting used to your expectations lets viewers understand the weapon you’re showing easier to understand for themselves. As a former Marine and civilian law enforcement person, this weapon’s size, capacity and appearance seem to be a winning EDC option. I currently carry two weapons while in traffic, and one for personal carry upon exiting vehicle. Unfortunately I believe the capacity of weapon supersedes the caliber of weapon, because I continue to be fan of the 1911 .45, I consider my 9mm pistol as mass shooter encounter weapon. Thank you for the video and review. I plan to buy this handgun and eventually make it my everyday carry. I carry a Arex zero 1 Taftical now sp weight and size is not an issue. I just think this gun is the perfect edc for some people. I just wish they produced this gun in 45acp but from what I hear they are planning on releasing other calibers later on

I haven’t heard that, but I wouldn’t be surprised.

Good morning, HRFUNK and family. Happy Saturday to everyone there and BIG HUGS❤. Yes, sir. As much as I love my rock island tac ultra fshc 45acp dubble stack. Yes, as it also being a 2011 type pistol. Is it practical to carry. My opinion. No. She's 3.2 lbs full magazine and one in the chamber. WAAAAAYYYY, to heavy for concealed carry my opinion. For home defense and just working around your house outside and as a side arm if your out in the woods. 💯. Of course I'd rather have a 10mm when in the woods than 45acp. But as a carry pistol. No. I'd rather have a 1911 4.25 barrel as a carry pistol when away from my home. When Hornaday flex lock 45acp ammo.

Good work Sir. You can get thin grips to help negate the fat handle.

If that is made as well as the 1911 A1 model, it will be a great pistol!

My reaction to 2011s has been like yours--especially since all the competition-oriented modifications make them look bulky and heavy--but that pistol is a beauty. From what I'm seeing of the price, it's what is normal for a new 1911 pattern handgun. I'm just annoyed by nature with the idea of a 9mm 1911. I would, however, like one in .38 Super.

I’ve not jumped on the Turkish gun bandwagon, but Tisas’s 1911’s and Beretta cheetah copies look interesting.

One thing on the trigger weight. These are marketed as "duty pistols". So the trigger is going to be a bit heavier. My staccato duty pistols are at 4.5lbs for that reason. If you are ever out this way you are welcome to try them.

Right. I was thinking the same thing with regard to the nearly 5 lb. pull weight. Still, as I mentioned in the video, it feels lighter than that.

@@hrfunk my staccatos are the same. 4.5 lbs yet feel much lighter. Zero creep as well
