I've studied, heard, taught, and conducted this piece many times. This is hands down the best interpretation I've ever heard! Congratulations to everyone including the Tonmeister and sound technicians for an outstanding performance!

Caridys was a marvelous when he worked at the Frankfurt Opera House - his Xerxes interpretation was stunning - as was his Mozart! And his pairing of Dido and Aeneas by Purcel with Janaceks Blaubarts Burg in one evening - stroke of genius! My best opera experience ever - even if the critics moaned about it. So glad he is back with a symphonic programm. Please more - Carydis and the hr-SO are a match made in heaven! If you have a smile on your face after listening to these Dances you know they did everything right!

Beautifully played. Great sound as usual. Loved the "silences" at the introduction to the "story" made by Mr. Carydis. Perhaps a Brahms lover? Love a conductor that do it with all his body and "dances" to the music.

Simply fabulous performance. The solo wind and brass are incredible to watch and listen to... I was on the edge of my seat many times throughout this great interpretation.

Interesting ... the orchestra and the conductor has everything, i.e. technically and spiritually to interpret hungarian (Kodaly) music, but they dont't use it. (played too slow). But they have commitment for it, and thanks for that. However, as an oboist (hungarian) I would have been very thankful for that playable tempo :)

some of the fast parts at the beginning of the second half seem to have a lot of similarities with Paint it Black
