I am confused by Me Ne statement saying this is an oranges to onions comparison. All these components contain a DAC and it is used instead of what it is connected to, so I cannot see how they all cannot be DACs. Secondly, they all essentially do the same thing, they take the digital info from a source(computer) convert it and amplify it for headphones. How is this not a good comparison? I have the HRT and got it used for $90 and its the best money in audio I have spent. It is the same as going from budget earbuds to a $200 headphone, a big step up.

I have them without the mic and its a love it or hate it thing when it comes to them, I think they are a very fun headphone to listen to and it might make for a interesting comparison to the beats you are looking at now

Any chance that you have info on any Fiio products? I'm looking at the E11 or E7. I feel like they're cheap, but people give them good reviews, any advice?

great info. Got the Audioengine D1 based on your recommendation. Really great little amp Thanks for sharing

I recommend the SMSL M6 32bit asyncronous dac with built in headphone amp for $135 on Amazon. It has all inputs and outputs you will need. The headphone amp can push high ohm cans easily. The only thing it doesn't do is DSD, which I think is just a marketing ploy. Its just another format type.

Hey there, wondering if your interested in selling the Audioengine D1. It'll be my first DAC... not to sure about buying a brand new one at the moment. Thanks =)

Have you had a chance to try out the HRT Music streamer 2 and if you have how does that pan out against the 3 here?

I can try to get it if you think it's worth owning.

***** Well I heard it is a better version fo the first, sound stage mostly depth and height but it seems to be a really good buy in the 100+ dollar ring. I am on the verge of getting one because from member of the thread I use said it is usable with the samsung s3 via otg adapter.

I've got a question for you.... If I stream music from my Macbook wirelessly to a Airport Express with 3.5MM Mini to 2 Channel analog (AQ Diamondback) Can I plug this into the USB in my Airport Express and then unplug my 3.5-analog and take it out of the Dragonfly directly to my amp? Basically, I want to know if I can send music wirelessly to the airport express, and then convert it at the Express with analog out to my amp?

Absolutely nothing stopping you buying DACs from Behringer, Topping, Fiio and others for less than 100USD - or you can pay *>23K USD* for the current Linn DSM streamer/DAC. 'Overpriced' is completely relative - Porsches are wildly overpriced in my world but for the enthusiast every other car might be considered a waste of money : so it is with DACs.

I see you have a Bentley in your avatar. Well, like many things in life you get what you pay for and the Dragonfly sounds superior to most soundcards , the same as a Bentley is superior to most cars. Same shit just a different pile.
@10395977097910 жыл бұрын
You are comparing coconuts with onions here, the Audioengine D1 is a DAC (Digital Analog Convertor) and the other two are much like external USB sound cards, if the thing don't have a coax/SPDIF input is not a DAC.
