I once went in a somewhat so-called apple clinic to talk about a simple wi-fi problem to a old lady.She was about 82 years old and I talked to her as she was a customer. She got mad and said "I am the owner".She also needed money befor I talked to her about the Mac Pro Tower.I told her I do not have much money.She said "that mac pro is "obsolete"I said there is one thing in the store that is obsolete and That is You.She called me alot of dirty words and I said be nice to you customer and left.----I stayed in the parking lot for 4 hrs doing online shopping and watching KZbin and watching her business, I was the only one there for alittle more than 4 hrs.I thank Apple for making good Products and that she might be out of business soon.

Hi, a question. I have a Powermac G5 that was working perfectly until one day I turned it on and heard an explosion and a light from where the power supply is.I turned it off and turned it on again, only the power light comes on but the fans don't start either and a click is heard inside the power supply. What could be the problem? THANKS

😱 please tell me it’s not liquid cooled? if it’s a 2.5 or 2.7 your LCS probably leaked and blew up the power supply. it’s fixable if you have a new power supply. Can you clean up all of the liquid but be careful it’s very corrosive and conductive. You have to get it all off using white vinegar and then bathing it in IPA because white vinegar is also conductive and corrosive, but it will neutralize the coolant fluid. Then I would recommend air converting it but if you’re feeling very adventurous, you can rebuild the cooler sometimes.

@@HrutkayMods It's not liquid thank goodness the model power suplly is AcBel API5FS17 710W The explosion was at the source, even though I plugged it in, you can see that the lights turn on but the fans don't start, you hear a click, are they the relays? and if I can't fix it I can put an ATX power supply on it? THANKS

The lack of expandability was kind of an example of Apple not understanding what users really wanted a Mac Pro for, but my biggest problem with the system is that they did essentially nothing with it for 6 years. They shuffled around some pricing and SKUs a little bit into the lifetime of it, but there is so many opportunities for the update the CPU and the GPU, and even swap out to Thunderbolt 3. It's complete madness that they didn't do that, and just a real example of them not caring about that segment other user base (yes I know it's a relatively small segment, but it's still a very important one. I think the fact of the marketing people have been running Apple is why this happened). The cheese grater Mac Pro'a entire lifetime fits in approximately that same span of time, 2006-2013. That design saw a new model almost every year, with three major internal redesigns . I am seeing the 6,1 getting more love recently, as they're rapidly dropping in price (I JUST bought one to replace an old Intel Mac mini), but I think these computers would've been much more loved and used had Apple done, what I thought would've been a most basic no-brainer, and give this machine design a few revisions over 6 years. They absolutely could have done it, they chose not to.

They originally intended to do revisions and upgrade the parts, but for some reason they didn’t probably because people kept complaining, and they decided they need to actually design something useful and expandable but it took them a long time to do it

@@HrutkayModsYeah, that’s ultimately why they went back to the tower design, but it really wouldn’t have taken them much effort at all to do a revision of the trashcan design. we can’t forget that Apple has more money and more resources than whole countries. If they really wanted to do a minor revision on the Mac Pro, they could’ve done a minor revision on the Mac Pro. I guess they were too busy designing butterfly keyboards 🤣. Either way, the 2010s were really bad time for Apple hardware. They started off strong, but quickly spiraled. It was a really difficult time to recommend new hardware to my clients.

Hey Greg - Thanks to you, I just bought one of these babies. I see that it will (unofficially) take up to 128GB of RAM, but everything I see indicates that it won't run at the full 1866MHz speed. But I have not seen anyone test it with 4 32GB sticks rated at 1866. (PC3-14900) I would love to bump up to that insane amount of RAM, but don't want the lowered speeds. Can you help? Keep up this great series - these "trashcans" are a total bargain and make for a beautiful "daily driver" with Open Core! Thanks!!!

I don’t see it being a problem it won’t hurt to try it 🤷🏻‍♂️ if anything if it doesn’t work at full speed and you don’t like the fact it’s not working you can always resell the ram there’s always people out there buying it

I’m trying to sell that the 6,1 is a great machine… can I keep running into giant roadblocks, considering how unexpandable it is… in the end originally the video I was trying to say it’s faster and better performance wise but if you have a maxed out 5,1… the 6,1 is actually slower
