SDS drill and screwnails are perfect, drill using a bit longer than the nail, put screwnail in place, and use SDS drill to set them. I tend to use 5mm ones, as they work, plus I bought a box of 1000 a few years ago, as I needed 400 of them for 1 job. SDS 5mm drill will work through 1.5mm mild steel, as well as will work on drywall steel studding, saving time. Works fast when the same bit is used both to drill the hole and set the nails. Tip for the cement is to look for a can of old PVA paint, with only a little left in it, and use that blended with a little water to add the water in the mortar mix. Sticks to the old brick well, plus the wood, and the colour does not really show through once cured. Saves needing to use bonding, and you always have some old paint around that is goopy, and with a thick skin, so peel skin off, add a little water, and then put the mortar mix in the can for the small job, and when done put the skin in, with the left over mortar, and put the lid back on, and toss in the bin. Makes cleaning up easy, and gets rid of that little bit of mortar, scrapings and such easy, as it will all fit in the can.

Good video Paul. Talking of hailstones, the day I left your house, and the heavens opened, they were the size of marbles!

Paul, I have only watched 2 mins of the video. Under no circumstances should the 2 wheels go. You will regret it if you get rid of them. I managed to keep my old Harris motorcycle that I built 40 years ago, despite various mutterings from my better half. I'm now in the process of rebuilding it for the TT next year after 20 odd years of it being off the road. If I'd have sold it there is no way I can think of that I would ever have got back on 2 wheels.

In this case Bill it feels like time to let it go. It's just not getting used and it's another thing to get tested and insured. We'll see. Cheers

Paul I thought Your Government was tough on you guys now days but here in California it's illegal to collect rainwater out of your gutters LOL what's next. I like anyone that isn't afraid to tackle a project by themselves it seems like we are breading Men that can't or don't want to get their hands dirty.
@carlwilson17724 ай бұрын
Why is it illegal to collect rainwater? The next thing you'll tell me is it's illegal to breathe oxygen. Thank god I live in a free country.
@HaxbyShed4 ай бұрын
Hi Patriot, I know parts of California are often short of water I'm guessing it's related to that? I think upbringing and saving cost drove our generation to do our own work. A lot of people these days don't have the example to follow or the confidence. Cheers
