I was gonna do this, then i looked at the bigger picture and waterproofed the whole canvas, I'll update this post if it worked

yes and no, i only put 1 coat on and water beaded straight off so no leaks, but Heavy torrential rain soaked it and little leak , so maybe make more effort cleaning and apply 2 coats thats my plan anyway

c0deye1 I think you should do like this guy did. The canvas is not an umbrella, there are gaps in it.
