HS2 need to stop using foreigners for the commentary, being hard of hearing, it's difficult to understand what they re saying. And as for the background music... STOP IT !

@peterwilliamallen1063 You are right, but that is the main mistake... perhaps the politicians should give the authority and the power for HS2 coming true to those people who are building HSR in China.

How do you get the idea the Chinnese would get it built quicker, they may do with millions of Chinese slave workers and bad construction, you lot do a lot of dreaming

I truly think if we can actually get train drivers to drive these trains regularly HS2 will be a great success. I suppose what I really don’t understand if the massive massive overspend from the original estimates. Is this because there was a criminal underestimate at the start , incompetence in the planning, or corruption in the delivery?
@warden330
@warden330 23 күн бұрын
Inflation aside (and construction costs have gne up a lot) route changes and mitigation works to address various objections have added enormously. Then there are always extra costs because of the unexpected, or assumptions such as whether costs could be offset against associated commercial developments, and so on. And there is always optimism. It doesn't require incompetence or corruption.
@peterwilliamallen1063

Yep Drivers will drive these trains, they will be the same drivers that drive the Avanti West Coast Pendolinos now as the HS2 train services will be operated by Avanti West Coast trains when it starts operating

Everytime they reduced the length or the scale, we lost some of the economies of scale that were priced in also.

@ so the original estimates was £37.5B and the current conservative estimate is £109B, if in my job I was wrong by a factor of 3, then I could only plead incompetence because the obvious answer is corruption. These are as bad as the MoD estimates. Are we paying for £5000 hammers?

If you travel from Euston to Birmingham by HS2 and your onwards connection is by train, you will want to go to Birmingham New Street Station, not Curzon Street. HS2 goes to the wrong place.

How far from Curzon Street heading North is it actually going to be high speed line now ? Does all that money need spending on Delta Junction when it's really only HS2 from London to Brum ?..I work on the Railway and it's a genuine question to anyone with a better understanding than me 😁

This area will be a far better environmental area once HS2 is finished. But it's interesting that you think all that tarmac in the adjacent motorways, let alone local roads and urban areas, didn't affect the Kingfishers or other wildlife, both during construction and use.

Hardley used by the time it is finnished, what a stupid comment as once the HS2 line is open the vast majority of Avanti West Coast Trains from London to Birmingham, Nanchester, Liverpool and Scotland will have their services trnsfered from the southern half of the WCML to run on the HS2 line
