After multiple dry falls and failed brassica plots, I’m going only clover and chicory in plots. I’ll give this blend a go, impressed with the results you had

Great video Jake! I have four 1/2 acre chicory/ clover food plots, the deer and turkeys are on them all year long! Great food source! Very little maintenance, fertilize and spot spraying and I mow mine at least once a year, depending on rain fall.

Totally agree Jake. I'm using a clover/alfalfa/chicory/small burnett and they are in it all year. I now have 4 plots with that mix. This will be my fourth season and it's been by far the best.

Love it Jake! Thanks for working so closely with John Komp at Northwoods to bring that blend to the rest of us. We all benefit from your willingness to share. I bet that chicory made for a beautiful pollinator plot when it flowered. That's one of my favorite wildflowers. Wisconsin's hill country road shoulders and ditches are lined with it. Absolutely beautiful stuff. Also loved seeing that Earth Blind waterhole still producing right where you put it all those years back! God bless you sir!

Thank you for such kind works Jake, life is grand and God's blessing are amazing. That earth blind watering hole is a very busy water source, many of the older local deer have used it all their lifes.

Been thinking about adding a bag of chicory to the clover chicory blend. I had a 1000 foot long by 16 ft wide road put through my property and it has good soil on top of it. The road really only used in July and in winter.

Looking forward to the updates on the Tar River no-till drill. Been thinking of purchasing one myself but worry about the quality because of the lower price.
@habitatsolutions360llc38 ай бұрын
Over the years Ive been watching the evolution of Tar Rivers's product line, from there light duty grain drill they entered the market with to there new line of moderatly priced more robust no-till line. Many of my consulting clients have bought them and had good results with them, some are not the easiest on their equipment & that has impressed me. There not a high end higher priced unit and as long as your a guy that's responcable, dosent slam into stumps and big rocks, perfoms standard maintenance and is aware of this I beleive most will be fine with it.

Jake....we talked some time ago about improving switch grass. What herbs did you plant in your switch and how many lbs. per acre? Thanks, Bob
@habitatsolutions360llc38 ай бұрын
Plant the Forbes & Forage blend from NWS at a rate of 4-6 lbs/acre, its a mix of 12 different forbes and forages.
