How do you work the black colour into the crackles but can still leave the surface pure white?
@Lunarl4ndr6 жыл бұрын
Rachel Zhang if you add the black after it has been bisque fired as a mason stain/oxide or underglaze you can just wipe it off with a damp sponge. That'll leave the stuff inside the cracks while cleaning from the white surface.

I'm struck by how you attach the pot to the wheel for trimming with just pressure and moisture. I've never seen that before. I always thought one needed to anchor the pot down with pieces of clay.

Dmitry Prokhorov sodium silicate also known as liquid glass. You can also use a torch to achieve similar effects. Different drying agents offer slightly different crackle results.

do you mix anything with your sodium silicate?
@hsinchuen7 жыл бұрын
Jim Tripp No, nothing, except for a bit of water since it was a little too dry.

Hsinchuen Lin thanks so much. Your vids are so informative. You have pushed me to be cleaner with my mud My wife says why do you get so messy when you work with clay. I just put myself into it completely Thanks again. I have some of your trimming tools and use them all the time. Chattering is great.
