I've made a couple of these with some lessons learned .... one large hole like Hsin Chuen made worked the best for me during use. Also, his foot also worked for me and was a great lesson learned. Nice video.

The little groves on the inside are so the coffee will drain nicely when the filter is in place. As long as a standard sized paper filter fits in your brewer, the piece will work just fine. Thanks for the idea.

You are an amazing teacher, Mr Lin! And now, the added multiple views take it to the next level - a quantum leap in knowledge transfer. I have been using your 3-S technique since discovering your channel 2 years ago. This pour-over (that is an experiment to boot) is so elegant, very different from the rough finish ones I have seen from other potters, that I felt obliged to come out of Lurk mode into the commenting arena. People don’t know when I am shooting the videos, my position is a bit awkward because I have to avoid my head blocking the top view but I think viewing from the same direction as I do should help people understand a whole lot more than from audiences’ position.

Beautiful piece! I wish I had your skills! Ridges are definitely necessary and the angling down to the center is great for the water flow. I expect I'd have trouble with this dropped due to the curved interior walls. The filters that go in are flat edged. I haven't had this problem before but I assume that would cause issues for the brew time

Very nice job yours is the nicest i have seen made, you made it look pretty simple. The ridges will help significantly when holding a filter in place. The test... will the full extraction be 3 min this will determine the size of the hole combined with the grind. Looking pretty sharp. Thx for the angled views those are so much better then a straight on.

Excelent job mr. Hisnchuen Lin :-) Why the coffee dripper MUST have lines or others patterns inside, is because of letting som air come between the paper filter and dripper, makes the process flow - Maybe You will expeirence it os better with 3 og 4 smaler holes 👍😍

This project is attempting to make pure over style dripper. The ridges were to improve the air flow while making. Check the commercial Hario V60 and you won’t think my hole is too big.

Thank you for making this! I just made 3 based on your instructions this afternoon. Tonight I was looking for dimensions as I made mine a couple different sizes to see what I liked best. Do you what what your ending dimensions were? BTW, I watched a few other videos on this after making my own and the way you show looks much easier by just sliding the finger at the base of the ball of centered clay. I consider you my pottery mentor as I’ve watched so many of your videos and they’ve been more helpful than anyone else. Also, I just received your #2 tungsten carbide trimming tool tonight for my birthday. Can’t wait to use it tomorrow!

I can imagine the coffee filters being not round at the bottom, having a hard time connecting in this vessel. Otherwise it looks perfect to me :)

The hole is too big. The longer it takes for the water to drip through the coffee grounds the stronger the coffee will be. Other than the hole being too big it's PERFECT how much will they cost?

Hole diameter will shrink as clay body dries. Application of glaze will also shrink diameter.

I think the hole on this dripper is small than the commercial V60 sold in the market.

@@hsinchuen I do realize that the whole piece will shrink @15% after firing, and the hole will be smaller after glazing. and you have been a ceramicist for more than 20 years I am in awe of your skill. But I am a caffeine addict, and the hole in my plastic Melita drip pour over is @ 1/16 of an inch wide.

I did a bit of research before making this video. The dripping hole sizes could vary depending on the manufacturers. On the popular Hario’s V60 ceramic dripper, the hole looks as big as a dime or penny.
