In this video we go through step by step how to make a ceramic coffee pour over dripper. All you need is one of these, a coffee filter, some coffee grounds, hot water and you are good to go!! No power or other equipment needed! Some people argue this is the best way to make coffee!!

Greetings from Vietnam! Very nice pour over. We do a very similar design in our shop. Our main difference is that we only use a single hole in the bottom but slightly vary the size of the hole between filters to change the rate at which the coffee flows through it. As we also run a cafe which uses our pour over filters, we can market the fact that the flavor of the coffee changes with the size of the hole (flow rate) as you are changing the time that the coffee is immersed in the water. Love your kiln opening vids as well.

Loved this idea so had to give it a try! Everyone in the studio was trying to figure out what I was making! I decided to elongate the bowl a bit to accommodate a cone filter...works pretty well! I also just happened to throw a small bowl that I can rest the pour over in to catch those last drips. I'll definitely make some more of these. Thanks for your inspiration and, of course, your fun entertaining videos....being a golfer, I especially enjoyed your 99 hole marathon!!!🏌️‍♀️

This pour over coffee maker is not molded. It is hand thrown. To mold something means to pour ceramic slip into a plaster of Paris mold. Suggestion: take a pottery class at your local community center. Good luck

Hi Jon So could you wax the holes, so the glaze does not run on the shelf, or use glazes that do not really run?

My two pour overs are drying... fun but hard getting the bottom thin without deforming. Question: What bats to you use? They are so thin and nice. I just had my first bat warp and need to buy more anyway. Cheers from the north of Sweden!

I am curious about the glaze dripping into the holes and blocking them and or the holes not being covered by glaze and therefor water eventually seeping into the clay body. Let me know :)
@Jonthepotter
@Jonthepotter 5 жыл бұрын
Actually bare clay that is fired to a high enough temp, such as cone 6 does not need glaze on it to be waterproof. But before it is fired I make sure that the holes are clear of glaze and I don't load it on thick enough for it to drip that much. I typically don't have any issues, thanks for watching!

Do you find it more comfortable to throw while standing? I've been thinking about raising my wheel and giving it a try.
@gregdebree9158
@gregdebree9158 4 жыл бұрын
I discovered standing a few years ago. Tip or two. measure the distance from the floor to your belly button. Then set the wheel up so it fits that position. I find I can look at many angles of my work easily and it doesn't hurt my back as much. A big plus for a small studio is you don't have a chair that takes up valuable space.
