Annie Paquette: A SPLENDID MESS

Have you ever been told you're too sensitive and you think too much? If you're a highly sensitive person (HSP), you've probably heard that a lot. That can be a sign that you're an HSP. You're overthinking. And it feels like a fault and like being shamed for how our brain works. Because we perceive more information from the world, it's PERFECTLY NORMAL that we have the brain to match! We do have a very active brain, but there's a superpower in overthinking.

Thank you. I love changing the “over-thinking” stigma, to a positive “thorough -thinking” and “innovative thinking”.

So true, thank you for this very positive and important message! ✨💗 I never liked the term "overthinking". I honestly believe that in our society, we have more of an issue with too many "underthinkers". People who just follow others blindly, who don't see through manipulation, who live by superficial values and can't see how things are connected to each other etc. We would be far better off with more "thorough" thinkers- you renamed this term so accurately! So for me- it's not only about our creative and innovative minds, but also about our ability to see and look at the whole picture. I agree with you so much, if we can nurture our mind and put it in a useful and good direction, it's such a treasure to have a thorough thinking mind as HSP'S . Thank you for sharing!🌞

I love what you shared. Thank you. HSPs really do see beyond the superficial and how we are connected to each other. And yes, the big picture. We connect the dots (I have a short about that: HSP Superpower: Connecting the dots). And also yes, with nurturing our minds, awareness and self care, our sensitivity is a superpower that can definitely be used for good. When I came up with the term Thorough Thinker, I thought it was such a key for us all. Thanks for this 💗🌸💗

This is really good! I’ve always been accused of ‘over thinking.’ But you know what? I truly am a thorough thinker! Every angle every possibility. Thank you for this!

Exactly! Every angle, every possibility. I had a feeling my idea of "thorough thinker" was a light-shedding, shame-removing lightbulb. It clicked with me very strongly. Empowering me to stop justifying and apologizing for my brain. 💗🤗💗

I totally resonate with this post! I can feel myself changing and that is getting off the hamster wheel of worries. I’m not saying it doesn’t happen on occasion, but I am able to pull myself out of it by giving gratitude for every situation in my life, however, big or small. Annie, you have such a brightness to you that I hadn’t seen before. I don’t know if it’s a product of my healing or yours or both but keep up the good work. You just look so happy!

Its my first time seeing your videos and let me say I'm hooked . When I was 7 yrs old my sister told me that I think too much. I am now 62 and nothing has changed. I am learning to cope with it better I think. I love your videos and am a fan. My mind never seems to rest. Im constantly wondering if I conducted myself in an acceptable manner each day and at the same time wondering what is acceptable. Its crazy. Anyway I will be following you and watching your video's. 🙄💐

Yeah, it is like “you are just anxious”, well, yeah, but that comment doesn’t help too much. Or: “why are u crying all of a sudden, u can’t be like that in real life”, cause I sometimes don’t have enough power to handle it in that specific moment as I usually do (waiting to be left alone and go cry in a shower). Actually, for some reason I am sure that everyone is like that, but people just think (and maybe fairly) that it will make other people use you if they see your weakness.

There is so much judgement and stigma attached to showing our true emotions. It's quite fascinating really, since we all have them. It's what makes us who we are, creates our stories and character. It's the greatest driving force in our life experience. Humans are curious creatures... not always so endearing 😉
