Cartoonish is a bit of a stretch. Really the most important things are visibility and performance. I couldn't care less what a game looks like as long as the visibility isn't frustrating and it runs good. Been playing since 1.5 too. Back in those days the quality of graphics were arse, but it played well and that's what made it a sensation.

It so bad, and the game mechanics feel off too. Radial menu is done for. The bloom in the final render is ugly, it hurts my eyes. The baked lighting is too bad. Whi even did it in the first place?
