100% By memory, Luke Youldon is a holden driver. He did a piss poor take off. I have seen an FGX XR8 Sprint manual doing 12.65 with factory tires. This video is a croc. Amazing to see the dyno stats. Ford claim 345kw at the flywheel, dyno results claim 359rwkw...NICE 😁👍.

My Condolences to Aussie Ford and Holden. I wish we were not taking them over. Mustangs and Camaros are dime a dozen here but we've truly been impressed to the point of envy at what you guys have locally made. Monaro, Falcon, and Valiant Charger are some good looking cars. My faves are XB falcon, HQ Monaro, and VH Charger. Like all great muscle cars, we wont forget what Australia has accomplished.

Yes no real surprises, but certainly not the last word in figures. All three have seen far better sprint times than those recorded here. The GTS for example is seeing 4.4s and as low as 4.2s in ideal conditions. Both the Ford offerings are also comfortably going below 5 seconds. (as they should the 08 G6ET was getting 4.9s)

Ain't that the truth. I found the end Dyno figures very interesting. The Fords have always been under tired. I think if they had a sticky 285 they would right up that hp over rated inefficient 6.2 litre v8. Ford disappointed me no end when you know that FPV planned and developed the miami engine to run 485 killer wasps but Ford Australia said no. So typical of Ford Australia at that time. It was about killing sales...killing name, not promoting

I own a new Gen 2 GTS and I can confirm that fat people in mobility scooters can pass me off the line in the wet. Its fucking useless in the wet, and not much better in the dry. There is just fuck all traction when you have ass raping mountains of torque on tap at low revs. Bang for buck you cant go past an XR6 turbo, only older worked AWD subies and nissans are faster, but with a lot more dollars into them.

It's amazing how Ford are able to get 359.3 RWkW out of the XR8's 5.0L engine, yet holden are only able to push 329.6RWkW out of an engine 1.2L larger. Wrap those XR8 wheels in decent rubber and you'd easily see figures closer to 4.6 seconds.

I picked up on that. Something on the nose here. It tells me that one isn't auto. I have a tweeked Super Pursuit that runs 355s on the rear and 295s front. I can not understand that he couldn't read the feel of throttle...engine load etc to assist with a quick time....not making any sense

I've noticed your measuring power in Rear wheel Kilowatts. If the numbers are true HSV is not telling porkpies as you loose about 25% of power through the drivetrain. ie a car with 200kw will read 150kw on the dyno. To calculate the engine power divided the figure by 0.75. If you do this with the HSV you get 439.4kw which is about on the money.

Wrong on both accounts. The true test of a cars real power, is the trap speed. You measure it against the weight of a vehicle and you can get a very close representation of the power of the vehicle. But everyone knows that Ford will make more power than the Holden, so why did they lift off in the xr8? The trap vs the et don't match. Not even close. Another add paid for by Holden.... And the media wonder why nobody believes them? The Ford 8 will destroy both of the other cars full stop. You can't give away 30rwkw. That's basically 50rwhp or 37 flywheel kilowatts

Nathan Porter he also said he couldn’t load up the torque converter above 1500 RPM or it’d break out into wheel spin, but the XR8 has launch control in the autos! From memory it needs to be in drive, and foot on brake and full throttle. Should load up to 2000rpm with no wheel spin. A proper launch may have made a slightly better result, but the XR8 and still notoriously hard to get the power down off the mark.

Its not always about power and figures you dumb fucks, obviously the gts is better set up suspension wise, has a better drive train over the xr8 sprint (coyote motors have so many more moving parts than an ls leading to slower acceleration) the xr8s in launch control would actually give it a worse trap time because it doesnt allow wheel spin so it will always bog down to try and gain traction, and simply the xr6 sprint is just that....its an inline 6 turbo its going to need time to spool up a little to get its legs going back into the race where the gts has power from the moment you stab your foot in. Face it, Ford is and always will be sub-par to Holden

Actually at the wheels it should be right on 300. But you're both closer to the money because Ford underestimates power/torque figures on all performance cars. They have since the 60's. Heathcote drag strip is one of the worst traction surfaces in the country, you'd be better off holding this test on the main road outside the facility. Most of the time the trap speed and time is missing from the left lane, there's always a shitload of dirt/dust laying on the track. Had this test been held at willowbank or a similar hi traction surface the times would have been much better. Can't blame the driver here guys, Luke knows how to operate fast cars, just lack of surface traction and street tyres making for a poor 60ft time, lauch and Et. Australia has made some wicked quick cars and these lot are nothing shy of awesome. Rest in peace Australian motoring industry, you gave us something to cheer about for many years. To those who think the skyline and supra were the god father to turbo sixes, let it be known that ford was turbocharging as early as the XF (1986), they had built an awd, twin turbo crossflow and was followed by the EA which was available from Ait as a turbo 3.9l six.

The New sprint is Australia's Fastest and last ever falcon built. If the Hsv can barely handle the less capable Xr6 Turbo then I don't understand how it over came the sprints. Especially the Xr6 sprint while Hsv is producing they're new Gts r, I don't think it should be known as Australia's fastest car ever built due to the "Chevrolet Corvette Engine" Holden and Hsv especially have drifted away from producing Real Aussie Vehicle's Unlike the Ford Falcon which has it's own Australian built and engineered engine!

XR8 has an automatic overboost function depending on temperatures. My guess is the conditions during the drag race wasn't sufficient so it was off (as why it lost), but during the dyno test it was cool enough so it was on (as why it made the most power)

The Sprint model was an opportunity to not only put a more complete package together but fix that horrendous styling. Shame they didn't deliver on the latter. Styling it to be a 'sleeper'...why?? HSV and Holden finished when they stopped making AUSTRALIAN engines and started putting in American push rod's in the late 90's. If Ford put the Amercian Mustang GT350 engine in a Falcon, would that make Ford the fastest and most powerful in Australia? Ford made aussie V8's for Aussie people who believed in Australian engineering. Well done Ford. Ford turned up the heat with the 335 supercharged and all of a sudden GM put their supercharged in to match. Australian engineered Ford's all the way!!!

Ford has always held its own against GM even here in the states often times being faster but they tend to put less thought into shodding our mustangs with proper tires than GM and dodge. I believe it. But the Ford has 345 kw from a 5.0L while the holden has around 304 from a 6.2L. There's no reason the holden should be faster other than the ford having bad tires. Many ford owners re tire their cars because while ford puts a lot under the hood, they skimp where it meets the road.

+Ike That's an LSA powered GTS bro, it's got a lot more than 304kw!!! Some of the previous gen, Clubsports had the 304kw engine, but that was N/A. HSV claimed like 400kw for these didn't they? I'm 95% sure they did advertise that as the power... The 345kw Ford claims actually doesn't include the over boost function! I was surprised when I found that out,, but they make heaps more in the right conditions when the ECU will allow this 15 second over boost. I'm a die hard GM man, but I'd own either of these cars. They both have positives and negatives, and both respond very well to modifications- the most important factor overall!!! LOL! ;) I can't leave anything alone, I'm a mechanic by trade and my daily driver runs flat 10's over the 1/4 on low boost

The XR6 Sprint is the most powerful iteration of the 4.0 turbo 6...which was already renowned for being faster than any FPV V8 in a straight line...without the added tune of the Sprint. The F6 310 turned a GT-F to dust in a drag race.

Ford often under estimate the power , my Mustang dyno 320 rwkw and the advertised power is 339 kw fly wheel 98:octane . In the USA mustangs dyno even higher too. Surely they lose more than 19 kw. PS : Eastern Creek - stock 10 days old 12.2 - 1/4 mile. 11.8 with Mickey Thompson 315 drag slicks on rear. My brother NA Mustang done a 10.28...... it does have 658 hp .....not bad for a 5 lt with NO forced induction.

Two big problems with these cars. Too heavy. 1800 kgs. Not enough traction. All that power and torque but not usable. Love the engines Put them in a car weighing under 1500 with either very wide tyres or AWD and it would be an absolute beast. These cars struggle against european v8 twin turbo AWD cars. They are still overweight but have much more.useable power.

Boss302FrostyFORDFAN Someone got a 4.5 or 4.6 in a XR6 Sprint from 0-100 so there still as quick. Plus the weight of the car is a factor as well. The Sprint 6 is lighter as well so the Sprint 6 might be fractionally quicker then a Sprint 8.
