In this episode, I share with you my thoughts on the Ford Falcon FGX XR6 Sprint - Australia's Last Falcon.
Designed, engineered and built in Australia for over 50 long years. The Sprint is the very last and quite frankly the ultimate iteration of the iconic Aussie Falcon. Sporting the legendary inline-six, four litre, turbocharged "Barra" engine at the heart, the car holds the record for the most powerful six cylinder ever made down under. A collector's car to many, the Falcon firmly sits as a household name and with this this final production vehicle, it marks the swansong of Ford Australia

Finally someone who will test drive an XR6 in the real world out on the streets and not on a race track. I hate these wanker who take a car out to a race track and test it and start knocking it for it's handling ETC on the race track. There us a big difference between a race track and the public streets so thank you Clay for testing it in the real world and doing a real world report on this car.

The xr8 sprint and the xr6 sprint are one of the best vehicles that ford ever made. We own a sprint and really love it. Yes the interior is outdated and their is some stuff that they could have done to finish it off better. But over all the car is a weapon and i love driving it. Thankyou Clay Wong for another great review really love your videos, keep it up. Ps you should feature a xr8 sprint if you can find one to review.

@@ClayWong Absolutely agree on that ...If you want a more techy car the Falcon isn't it . What it is though is a true weapon that's incredibly bullet proof and rarely need the attention many Euro sedans do to have performance without the real risk of something failing ..

How did you find the upgrade to the Sprint? Looking at buying one of these but unsure if the Sprint is worth the extra 15k

@@Ingotishere the Sprint is a much better car due to the R & D put into it's engine and suspension,mind you I loved the FGX XR8 and for 15k you won't regret it,my Sprint only has 9000 Km's on it and when I take it out it's an awesome experience

Ah yes, the wicked XR6 Sprint. The modern GT-HO. I reckon it’s a masterpiece even with the auto and as for the interior I reckon it’s not as bad as people make it out to be.

Great video Clay, thank you. Love your production techniques and quality! I don't know, though, if I can agree that "an automatic cannot be a great driver's car". I disagree AND I think a good proportion of the Euro manufacturers may also disagree.

The Barras have really good in gear acceleration. I have a bf ii n/a with zf and the in gear acceleration is really good.

And the out of gear acceleration??? Bah the ba was bloddy awful bf bloddy f#'ked and the comedy of errors kept up right thru to the end. Piss poor build quality. If you owm a ba youd know. -door handles -window regulators -bonnet latch releases -cv shaft splines -dash cracking -steering wheels falling apart -cheap seat trim edges snap off just like every other falcon. -coil pack issues -headlight globes -excessive fuel usage -roof linings fail -touch screen issues -hvac fan noise like leaves stuck in the blower. -heat sop/soak -poor paintwork -fading or fall apart headlight assemblies And all of these problems continue all the way thru to the last model. Thats just a small list by the way.

the ZF 6hp26 gearbox is the superior gearbox when compared to the Tremec TR6060.

Tell me, other than a mega dollar luxury sedan, what is a better car for a long road trip with mates/family than a Falcon XR6T or Commodore SS? Hope people don't wreck their cars. We should enjoy them for many more years!

Did someone actually lend this guy the car to go and drive like a peanut in the wet? By the way, the auto works perfectly with the turbo 6, maintains boost through the changes. I'm a manual guy too, but not with a Barra 6T. That ZF gearbox is magnificent, the standard box not so great.

F6 has it in first gear boost and torque. The sprint has the 1st gear driveline safety limiter built into its tune. Same as all 5.0's

Arghhhh Clay, you’ve got it all Wong ............ It’s a Parts bin slap together, FG GT5th Anniversary wheels painted black, 6/4 combo from leftover GTP platform in Gold, FG F6 Mk2 long engine, Factory De ring cat section, Shocking seating position, 3/4 lock steering bias, Overboost that needs the stars/moon/cats arsehole to align to activate, factory tune that was done by the HP Academy kid online. Just saying, I’ve got 414/500 and use it as my work hack & R&D Gimp 🦄 My FGF6 310 was much better all round vehicle as a direct comparison

I miss my FGX XR6T.. At the time the VF Series 2 SS was too tempting to trade it in for. The Ford had some pretty bad quality control but they look and go so nice.

Awesome car but for some reason its no quicker than an average stock fg turbo auto? Id expect very low 12s at a minimum to at least match the fg f6.How can it possibly be the quickest barra...

It was 60k at the time and was the most powerful inline 6 production car ever. Its never claimed to be a luxury car. Its bare bone aussie muscle.

@@lukesm5747 nobody is expecting luxury from ford mate, At least they should give customers something up to date, this is a same interior as 12+ year old XT faclon taxi just with leather seats and and a navigation system.... Still a hell of a performance car tho.

The fgx has a 100 million dollar budget, i would like to see what you would get done with that budget. And for the record what are you driving that is so much better? Atleast Ford didnt become a tryhard European car like holden did whilst still retaining the imported ancient pushrods and a dogshit gm auto that goes hunting like CVT.

Never been a fan of Falcon interiors. My FG MK2 interior screams 2008. But the performance more than makes up for it.

Basically car runs at overboost the whole time unless the engine gets too hot. If you wanted the full 370kw all day even after hard track work, you would need to invest in a larger intercooler and a good transmission oil cooler and obviously with a retune.
