Amidst an economic crisis, the Pakistan Army faces never-before-seen threats from both the inside and the outside. It appears that the Pakistani army, which has controlled the nation either directly or indirectly for decades, is about to end. The inability to tightly control the narrative is being caused by issues such as the widespread terrorism, especially in Balochistan and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, the difficulty in obtaining another bailout from the IMF, and the growing popularity of the imprisoned PTI leader and former prime minister of Pakistan, Imran Khan. These issues have led to an increasing number of signs of failure in the policies that the government has imposed on the nation. Strategic affairs specialist Sushant Sareen explains in this edition of the South Asia Diary who will step in when the army is unable to call the shots.

Well, I’m not from India… I’m an analyst from the US with a good command on a few local languages so I can talk to people here and in India/Pakistan about what they think of their military. It is true that Indian military has huge cantonments. BUT, their Generals and their families don’t live in the US, UK or Brussels and their children don’t study in the Ivy League schools in the US. Here is a homework for you: tell me the names of retired Pakistani Generals in last 15 years who live in Pakistan with their families. Thank you!

Quiet accurate however I would slightly differ on couple of points,; firstly it us true that Military establishment for the first time is very unpopular however their grip at the body structure of State is strong, they have penetrated deep inside the civil administration thru the appointments of retired Army officers and sleuths , so to get all those out requires quiet an effort, secondly the vacume you have mentioned if happens than the only figure that could fill it is Imran Khan because at this point of time he has that amazing support in general public that could enable him for that role (if things come to that) lastly I would slightly differ with that notion that Imran govt was a disaster, his govt was skightly better than the previous year nes led by PPP and Nawaz, growth rate was 5.7 per anum while in the 2022 at the time of no confidence mive was 6.1textile and construction sector were having a best of times, this rate is now hardly 3%. So the over all analysis of tours is on the mark but certain more things should have been included.
