I recently discovered your channel, researching about htmx. Great content, great explanation of things and I love your accent!!! This particular video took me back at least 10-12 years when we used dom scripting and jquery! Keep it up!

Thanks a lot! This style of coding is definitely a throwback to the jQuery days!

This my third time watching the video, and I have been referencing the code for "boilerplate" since it helps getting started. Comparing with exact samples is a great idea, it helps a lot more. Thank you

Great tutorial as always! In the context of this vid, another nice comparison would be with Hyperscript.

I could be mistaken, but it seems like Htmx increases the code size with its need for more extensive JavaScript compared to jQuery? As someone who has used jQuery for many years, I’m still new to Htmx, and this comparison hasn’t really convinced me to switch.

But is htmx actually intended for dom manipulations like that? 🤔 The JS API seems more to be intended to fire htmx events. After all I might as well use vanilla JS to achieve the same functionality. Don‘t see why I would use htmx for that since it has no benefit
@bugbytes3923 Жыл бұрын
I would say that you certainly don't require HTMX for these actions. It's not the main purpose of HTMX either. However, the point of the video is to show that it is possible, and that HTMX comes with a set of tools for scripting and working with events/the DOM. And these tools happen to be very similar to jQuery (and vanilla JS). So if you're already using HTMX for it's "normal" functionality, you can also use it as a light scripting aid if you need to. The HTMX JS API is also useful to know about if you're developing HTMX extensions - this is a light introduction but not really related to that, admittedly. Modern JS is very capable of handling these tasks, of course. Use whatever works best for you :)

Amazing amazing. I have been following you for quite a while now because of htmx. I am doing great systems with htmx thanks to you. **I WANT TO MAKE A REQUEST THAT YOU SHOULD SHOW US HOW TO REDIRECT PAGES WITH HTMX. NO ONE IS TALKING ABOUT IT BUT I HOPE TO GET YOUR GUIDE. Keep up sir

htmx.on('td') shouldn't be inside that tds.forEach() (around 9:20). You'll end up with a lot of extra events on all the td-elements this way. Just pick the element from the event object. Ah but wait, at around 10:43 you do reference the element from the array. My question then would be: doesn't htmx.on() allow a query instead?

can you make review for all htmx functions?
@onnot701 Жыл бұрын
why not just use vanilla javascript?
@Htbaa Жыл бұрын
If you're already using htmx in your project and need to add some Javascript (or _hyperscript) it's handy to have these utilities by hand. It's not like htmx has tons of added functions.

Your use of HTMX is triggering to people who know what that library is for. Based on the HTMX documentation: "While it is not a focus of the library, htmx does provide a small API of helper methods, intended mainly for extension development or for working with events." And even in the cases that HTMX is a good solution for, you did not use the intended way HTMX was built for, you just wrote shit in the tag and called it "using HTMX"

This is purely a demo of HTMX scripting features. That's literally the purpose of this video. See others for "proper" use.
