Ok so the cadence at 50 seconds…at Cookman we call it “Colorblind”, Bama State calls it “Roots” where did this cadence originate and what’s HU’s name for it? Great performance btw!
@hyperdriven083 жыл бұрын
It's called "Roots" originated at Morris Brown College.

What college or university does the drum cadence, "Colorblind" belong to? Bethune Cookman played it back in the 90s.

Morris Brown College, written by Harvey Taylor. The name of the cadence is “Roots”; we just called it “Colorblind”.

This is correct. I'm from Daytona and was in high school when someone transfered from MB to then BCC and taught them Roots as well as many other cadences. Many people do not know that MB aka Sticking Sensation was the largest and most feared drum section in the south for a looooooong time. There are many variations of Roots/ Colorblind. Howard U. started playing it in 1995 as well, long before Hampton did. No shade. Both sections were quite different then.

What’s up with the singular Evans Hybrid Grey on the snare line, where everyone else has a Remo White Max?
@humfxfactor67453 жыл бұрын
Remo sent the top heads for the parade with the Macys decal on them.

No; “Roots”. It’s a Morris Brown College original, which was played by us (Bethune-Cookman) for close to two decades before it was effectively retired from the rotation. We just called it “Colorblind”. The last time it was played by us was warming up before Homecoming 2018.
