I believe, that without CLARA .. Schumann would not have got as far. It was his wife Clara that devoted her life to promoting her husband's music instead of her own. What an unselfish and considerate woman! Not sure I would do that for my spouse. And all the children she raised as well!
@milton32048 жыл бұрын
+Susan Marshall You don't have to put down one composer in order to praise another. Schumann's talent was his own and no one elses. How about you credit his success to relentless hard-work and labor?
@pilouetmissiou8 жыл бұрын
+Milton Enosse this is correct....we can only say that it would have been better for Clara not to marry at all, and perhaps not Schumann, as she dedicated a lot to this possessiv man, but Schumann was Schumann even if, very often, we are what we are because of many conditions.....someone can destroy someone else or help him a lot to develop himself...
@milton32048 жыл бұрын
You and my mother share a first name... Anyways, Schumann encouraged his wife to pursue her interests in composition. It was Clara who had the idea that she wasn't adequate enough for composition, claiming it was a man's territory. Do not blame Clara's own pitfalls, poor decisions, and failures on Robert Schumann.
@pilouetmissiou8 жыл бұрын
Milton, only in mathematics two plus two are four; not in human psychology....Clara had no doubt before marriage about herself; she composed a piano concerto when she was very young.....

Yep, just like the long-suffering wife of artist Jackson Pollock (heartrendingly portrayed in the movie "Pollock", for which she won an Oscar.) JP and Mrs. are buried in the same graveyard, but not together...

Scherzo - maybe a character piece? Up for debate Composed in 1838 Musical characteristics/style characteristics: Intro, main theme x3, contrasting A minor section, main theme, contrasting Eb major section, main theme Chromatic Dramatic - extreme dynamic contrasts Intentionally modulatory (key signature changes) Melodies appear in both hands throughout Chopin also wrote scherzos Somewhat like a character piece - stormy imagery - but also, it’s not identified as such, and it’s pushing it in terms of length Clara’s compositions often showcase the virtuosity of the performer

@@greenapple306 but they only were composer...she composed sometimes..between 8 children she had, international pianistic carrier she had and a mad husband she had to take care.... Can you understand what does it mean ? she sometimes compose something and what she compose let us understand she could have compose great stuff if she had only herself to think...Composing is absorbing activity.. you cannot compare on these basis...

@@pilouetmissiou For sure it's an unfair comparaison, but people people will remember you for your music itself, the circumstances you were in won't be taken into account by the general public. I'm the same person as the comment you were replying to. But looking back, it was an unecessary comment made by me for sure.

She was more of a performer than composer, when she got time, she used to perform and not compose.

AAAAAAHHHHHH!!!!! THE TEMPO IS WAY TOO FAST FOR ME!!!! I can play this piece, but not up to the suggested tempo. I think the suggested tempo is just way, way, way too fast. Have you ever tried playing this piece that fast??! With this kind of tempo it just feels like you are rushing and it kind of sounds like all you are trying to do is to run as fast as you can with a hungry tiger chasing after you. It's a scherzo, a joke, not a marathon or a sprint event in the Olympics, for heaven's sake! Sigh... and I got third place in a contest because I wasn't playing the piece up to the suggested tempo... T.T Other than that, I love this piece. Oh, and by the way, I'm 12. (You should be impressed that I can even play this piece.)

Julia Chen oh wow watch out a pro pianist! You sound so arrogant. I dont give a flying fuck about how old you are ("you should be impressed that I can even play this piece"). How about you try to be a little bit more humble? Nothing extraordinary about you playing this piece. There are KIDS that can play masterpieces flawlessl and up to speed. Play the piece however you like but don't brag. People will instantly dislike your attitude (me included). Not trying to bring you down. Stay humble, thats it.

I sometimes imagine Clara shaking Robert, saying "Damn it, Robert, forget about being another Beethoven; just write what you love, what you're so good at, like your 'Dichterliebe, or your 'Symphonic Etudes', your 'Carnaval'. . ....And by the way, I have a little idea for another piano concerto...."

This piece, I discovered in High School, when I was on fact, a very accomplished and able performer. I was showing off Beethovens Waldstein, Appassionata, and Others...However my favorite was his 32nd and the Gm fantasy. Playing Liszt, Chopin, Rachmaninov was also in repertoire. 4 memorized concertos: Mozart 20 Dm, Hummel Am, SaintSaens 5 in F, and Brahms 2nd. (I went for a couple that weren't as common. I was learning Ravels Scarbo. (Had a rough time with timing in that movement for some reason). Anyhow my point is I was shocked when I started to pick up some curse you mine pieces and start wearing them particularly the skids of the minor I was very surprised at the difficulty of the piece is
@jasonmaslowski70888 жыл бұрын
The difficulty lies in keeping the tempo very fast, but not too fast (like Pontis here) and letting the music sing in the vehicle being pushed by a presto that isn't for the beginner or intermediate player.
