I have the Amazfit Pace & Verge. I cant comment on the iPhone watch, but I find the Amoled display on the Verge easier to read than the Pace's Always On display outdoors. The Pace needs direct sunlight on its face to be most legible. If the sun is off to the side, or in front it is difficult to read. I find the Verge display more consistently readable in varying conditions, including direct sunlight. I suspect in the review the watch was not on maximum brightness outdoors. Indoors, of course, there is no contest.

Hi. I’m looking to buy the Verge. Around 90€. What do you think for this watch ?
@karlk631095 жыл бұрын
This watch has not disappointed me yet. It delivers a lot for the price. Tested heart rate against a Fitbit Versa and got pretty consistent results while working out. Many brands don't allow for 3rd party HR monitor pairing so that's a big bonus if you really care about 100% accuracy (which I'm less of a stickler for really). For all day health tracking and deeper data than Fitbit, this thing is pretty solid at this price point. Haven't tried the Stratos but the weight and size aren't super appealing to me. Hopefully the calorie issue is fixed. Personally though, I love how light and comfortable this watch is and for the price it gets you a lot of tech in a nice little watch. For the people who think it looks cheap, in person it does not feel cheap and surprisingly really does look fine with professional wear at the office. More app compatability would be nice and I've gotten multiple updates already so I expect more bugs to be worked out. Great review and thanks for keeping us up to date on the latest and greatest!

This is why I like the low powered transflective screens. They are always on and you can see them perfectly in the daytime. That’s what a sports watch should do. I have the Ticwatch S. I don’t wear it anymore. One of the reasons was the visibility. The Verge also looks too plastic-like. In this range, I think people will do better with a Fitbit. I’ve still got my VA3 for now.
@TechyAgent5 жыл бұрын
Yes, I agree with every point you made. I’ve had some viewers complain about the transflective screens from Garmin, but the second you step outside to work out or enjoy the outdoors, those screens make total sense. Plus most of them have a backlight for indoor situations, which I consider a perfect compromise.
@johnmanley45285 жыл бұрын
Techy Agent Agreed. Also, you can see the screen even with sunglasses on. You can’t say that about the amoled panels, with Apple Watch or Galaxy Watch the only exceptions I can think of.
@TechyAgent5 жыл бұрын
Not to mention that you get significantly better battery life from a transflective screen.
@ArtzFenix5 жыл бұрын
I would choose a Garmin over a Fitbit every time. I used to think why don't Garmins have screens like the Samsung Gears (Amoled) but I understand now that there's a reason that even premium watches like the Fenix series have these Transflective screens...battery life. While it would be nice to have a watch that does all things at all times maybe it's more realistic to don the Garmin 935 for the Gran Fondo or ultra marathon and the Citizen EcoDrive to work (keeping the Fenix in your pocket to get your steps).

Everything I've read seems to suggest the verge is still water resistant. You can't swim with it but rain shouldn't be a problem, like suggested in this video, given the specs of the watch. I think its IP68 or something so it's water resistant up to 1.5 metres (but not swimming because the pressure gets to high as soon as you start to move). Heck it might even be okay in the shower.

Why your point of comparison is always the Apple watch? Is the Apple watch the definitive fitness tracker or what?
@TechyAgent5 жыл бұрын
No, definitely not, but the Apple Watch has the most accurate optical heart rate sensor as of right now. This has been largely confirmed with the data from DCRainmaker and Dezfit too. But in terms of GPS, there are much better options. I simply use it as a reference point to show how other optical heart rate sensors compare.

Thanks for watching. Regarding your question about the Samsung galaxy watch: unfortunately I don’t have access to Samsung products through my supplier. So it makes it harder for me to review those watches, unless I purchase them out of my own pocket. And that’s something I try to avoid doing since my channel doesn’t really make much money and I’m not independently wealthy! But I have gotten a lot of questions regarding Samsung products, so I’ll attempt to do my best to review them going forward.

@F0F0955 жыл бұрын
@@Alcachofra2008 besides the battery life which is awesome, I expected calorie tracking to be more accurate, for example resting and active calories burned. Watchfaces are ugly. When you receive a call you don't see the caller but when you receive a message you see the sender. Maybe these things will be fixed but for the moment it's an incomplete watch, it needed at least 6 more months be finished and just after that to be released. This is my opinion after 1.5 weeks of moderate usage(workout, office and walking)
@sm7535 жыл бұрын
Seems fairly expected with what we saw from previous Amazfit devices. Steady state cardio like running/etc, HR sensor worked fine. Beyond that it was just trash.
@born2burn15 жыл бұрын
I'm not sure why you compare every device with an apple watch? Is the apple watch the best fitness tracker you can get? Or is it just an average one and their metrics are off as well and we end up comparing apples and oranges? Because apple shouldn't really be a benchmark in this case as it cost 3x as much. I have the amazfit pace...I realise it is not as accurate and a bit old in terms of functionality. But at a 5th of the price of the apple watch, you expect and accept tradeoffs.

I agree Better to test HR versus a chest strip like Polar H7
@TechyAgent5 жыл бұрын
For future reference I can certainly test against a chest strap. But anytime I’ve compared an optical heart rate sensor against a chest strap, I always get a large portion of people that complain saying that I’m comparing apples to oranges, and they want to see how one optical sensor compares to another. So I’ve been using the Apple Watch Series 4 because it’s the most accurate optical heart rate sensor I’ve tested so far. Both DCrainmaker and Dezfit have confirmed this. It does not have the best software or GPS, but since it has the best heart rate sensor I’ve been using it more often. What I should probably do for future reviews is compare it against both a chest strap and optical sensor.

99% of the time it is still my daily driver, the only exception being when I need something with extended battery life or longer GPS, and then in that case I’ve gone back to the Amazfit stratos. Techy Agent That’s great, thanks. I’ve commented on your videos before - I’ve largely stuck with the Fenix watches over the last few years but I think I’m going to go for it and get an AW4 - the battery is the only downside for me, plus I’d get the Steel one so it’s a little tougher! When most people gym they need heart rate and a stop watch, sleep is important so smart wake seems to then complete the package. If you run, then distance, route and time. Calories is a load of BS and this review proves how easy it is for a watch to give faulty calorie reading.
