I work for Huawei here in México and I've tested both monitors in the office and let me tell you that the MateView is beautiful, the productivity factor of the ratio is amazing however the GT imo is better due to the 165hz. Huawei is taking a good approach for the market as they are giving people what they want (and will deliver ;D) as I believe they are going for the "Apple Fans" with the stylish, good looking, minimalist, productivity-wise MateView and the "ROG/Gamers" market with the wide, 165hz display, sound bar included MateViewGT

It is a shame to see the struggles of Huawei due to US restrictions. I work in the ISP world where Huawei is dominant due to their price, quality and loads of options that suit any use case. My experience is that they always deliver good products with a really good visual on what the target audience wants. I am currently not really aware of good monitors from huawei for vesa users but I think once they’ll do that it would be done so well!

China can't print manuals in proper English. How good do you expect HarmonyOS to be? It won't rival the open-source Unix/Linux based Android that has government grants from about 20 nations openly funding development, tens of thousands of people contributing to its development. It's just not possible. It's one of the reasons I only buy Sony TVs, and no more LG or Samsung (or any other manufacturer) TVs. I have about 11 TVs and displays in my house, so we go through a lot of TVs. I got so sick of LG (webOS) and Samsung (Tizen OS) TVs becoming useless because they don't update their smart tv OS/skin software after a few years, and streaming services like Hulu & Netflix stop supporting the TVs after a few years. Then I have to get a Roku box for it, so I can bypass the TV's native smart TV software. Sony TVs use android, and it's supported in perpetuity. Don't have to worry about getting another horrifically on my LG TV that strays, "on April 30th Hulu will no longer be supported on this tv," only 3 years after I buy it. Bonus with HarmonyOS, you get the CCP HAVING access to your information, watching habits, and other data. And more nefariously, the ability to listen to you through the mic that most contemporary smart TVs have. Or through the camera, that some current smart TVs have, and most future smart TVs will have.

3:2 is great for a laptop. Past a certain size, it's not perfect. I'd say for 24" and above 16:10 would be better for me personally (architecture). Also the image and viewing angles on the 3:2 look quite bad. Just my opinion.

IMHO is not really correct to compare them because they are designed for absolutely different purposes! The GT is a plastic body gaming monitor with 165hz refresh rate but with very low PPI of 109 just like outdated QHD (2k) monitors. In terms of working and browsing it is no comparison with the 28,2" MateView which has a perfect 3:2 aspect ratio + modern 4k (4,5k actually) resolution which gives a much much higher PPI of 163 which is nice even for using with macOS.
