A fanboy can simply identify any review of device they don't like a sponsored. Huawei Mate 10 Pro is definitely not the most 'advanced' phone, rather a strong phone with excellent price-performance ratio.100-200 euro cheaper than Google Pixel 2 XL, but much better build quality, we'll see if it has all these screen issues when it gets shipped to customers. For now, it looks legit to me.

Do you think flying someone to Munich 'free', giving them 'free' handsets along with the promise of another 'free' porsche version once available really had no bearing on this review? Even if they Huawei did not pay directly for such review, the 'freebies' will have had some an impact on this review. Even if giving them leeway, it was impacted on a mere subconscious level. It's naive to think otherwise. This is nothing to do with fanboyism, the same thing would be applicable regardless of manufacturer. Being paid in kindness, is not a new phenomenon, but let's recognise it for what it is, and hold 'reviewers' to a better standard.

Where the benefit of a 'long-term review device' all journalists and bloggers were given at the launch is most value or detrimental to scores is the fact that we can test the phones for long periods. This can work both ways kzbin.info/www/bejne/fpTSi5eMhrN8rLM, highlighting ares of weakness in a device and strengths. That said, your point is valid, but hopefully the video showed at length the specific areas the Mate 10 Pro excelled, while also covering potential weaknesses too for a type of user that categorically isn't me. I can' be totally objective 100% of the time as you point out. This conclusion was reached after two weeks with the phone, and 8 years reviewing other phones. I do appreciate the comment and it's healthy to be challenged. Thanks for taking the time out, hope you found the review useful and informative.

Btekt thanks for the response Basil. I have no issues with you enjoying the phone or taking advantage of the courtesy from Huawei. I've been around tech and art, media & music industries myself long enough myself to know how the business works. Your mistake was probably the score (which you have subsequently edited in video title) and in hindsight wish you had said in the first instance instead. I do appreciate you have to find a balance between playing along with manufacturers, generating revenue from KZbin to actually keep the channel going and earn a living. I do wish you success in doing that, but will continue to hold you to a high standard and prick at your heels when and if you slip 😉👍.

I'd normally avoid percentage breakdowns in the title for the sake of brevity, but when a title is so divisive, happy to work with viewers to create one that is transparent and affirmative without being too much of an oversimplification. As naive as it sounds, the original title without the percentage breakdown was decided upon as a celebration of a phone that gets more right than any other seems to do right now across the board, with a big emphasis on value and battery. At no point did I think - this will get tons of clicks if I give it a 10/10. I put it in my matrix, it scored over 9.5, and that was that. Really appreciate the kind words and well wishes though. Great review. I was coming for the Pixel XL 2 and LG V30 for my upgrades from the kingly 6P but this Huawei handset has thrown a quality wildcard into the equation. Seeing as Huawei made the 6P I'm not surprised about the standard here. Food for thought. Thanks.

Thanks for this Basil, for me 3 key factors for a phone - battery, camera, and relatively performance - most flagship phones don't entirely deliver in at least one of these areas, but elevated battery life on this thing makes it a win. The photo difference is very small from chinese review videos~ but overall, pro should be preferable acoording to the chiset performance and the battery duration

Regretfully I wasn't very impressed with the finish of the build quality. I ended up going through two handsets before calling it quits and getting a refund because there were manufacture cosmetic defects on the back panel. If it wasn't for this I would have kept the phone as it had a stellar camera and overall good performance.

I agree it really seems like the best value for money flagship: large battery, very good camera, large expandable storage etc. Probably will get this one or even the P11 depending on the pricing. Have a MediaPad M3 which is also the best value for money tablet in my point of view

The knuckle sense feature doesn't work as good because most don't use it like it should. A simply drag with knuckle is not how it works. First need to give the screen a knock and then only continue with a drag or other draw gestures.

Had one for three weeks. Lag in main screen when you swipe to the right. Stutters in Facebook and F Messenger. Minor stutter in Instagram. Heavy stutters in G Maps. By comparison One Plus 5T 0 stutters in 30 days of heavy use. Could not take it anymore. I had send it back. Decent camera, a bit better than One Plus 5T and Nokia 8 but even the Nexus 5X is sharper and more true to life, even if it takes forever to take an image with HDR+ On. Audio in my opinion better than all above mentioned (tested wit Beyer DT 770 Pro 80 Ohm, KRK KNS8400 32 Ohm and RHA 750 16 Ohm).

I recommend pro. The photo difference is negligible, so is the audio/speakers. But due to the power saving OLED screen, pro can offer a longer battery life. And although the specs are the same, but according to some chinese media tests, pro is better optimized and get better performance from Kirin 970

Any phone that is a flagship without sd card, or a headphone jack, and only 1080P in 2017 is not a 10/10, no matter how good it is otherwise, but bad design for not including those premium and wanted and needed features. I believe wireless charging is a scam to sell wireless pads, when just plugging in a cable charges 10X faster. so I am with Mate 10 on that, saves his money spent for slower charging. However if you are going to go to the trouble to give us a glass back, (meaning new phone or high repair costs if dropped compared to metal $$$) than at the very least include it. Ai is still unproven as far as slowdown and other claims go. But I do give them credit, for the one cable to large screen computer mode, 4000 MAH battery, stereo speakers, mono chrome 1.6 lens. main 1.6 lens right after LG V30, ps4 controller, camera ex, and It is also a great looking device. looks similar to the LG V30 before it, maybe even better in certain colors. Good video though.

Thanks for the comment Tigerex996 - totally get where you're coming from. I'd be interested to see what you think when you use the phone in the flesh. Alongside the QHD Pixel 2 XL, the screen wins, making me think FHD isn't a black mark against it. As for the storage - 128GB is ample for me, and I always use Bluetooth headphones. That said - the score is also accounting for all the value adds you get in the box - a case, a screen protector and the EMUI desktop experience. The price is also cheaper than other competing flagships and with 2-day battery, it just keeps impressing.
