Parts actually get tested for years in the most extreme conditions. 30 years back i was at a philips testing facility where they already had bending lcd screens in boxes where humidity was very high or temps very high, etc. Just not whole products. But not sure if they have such a facility in china.

@davidlguerrАй бұрын
One way to make sure the laptop is not comming back due to a unconnected ribbon cable or something like that, is that you should always do quality test. You check sound, camera, USBs (daughterboard), keyboard, touchpad, Wifi. So if one of those is not working, you can always check if you did any mistakes prior to deliver the laptop to the customer.

No check on the underside of the motherboard after soldering the new port to make sure the anchor legs have lots of solder on the backside of the motherboard to hold that port in?
@davidlguerrАй бұрын
The thing is, he did added alot of solder to the top of the anchor legs, so it does not matter underneath, because those legs are not going anywhere. If the connector is going to break in the future, the issue is not going to be the anchor legs.
@GregMАй бұрын
@@davidlguerr It is just good practice for all ports one solders in, to ensure that the solder flows through to the backside of the board

I was thinking about these 4 pack battery, they're in 2+2 (3.85v X 2 + 3.85v X 2) total 7.3ah configuration, and they look like regular phone batteries. What I'm wondering about is if one pack is 3.85v 3.65ah. Doesnt phones already have bigger battery capabilities like 5000mha?

what he used is normal solder wire, low melt is below 180 deg and is used for desoldering.

Yeah same here. I fix arcade games, old Space Invaders or Pacman schematics very easy to get. Even full diagnostic technical manual explaining how to check it and find the exact fault at chip level. For this reason never throw away anything old if it works because they are easier to repair. This is why my main laptop I use now is an old Toshiba Tecra A8 from 2009. Runs Windows fine ande evrything works. If it ain't broke don't fix it. Main issue now is the majority of people are not very smart and have no clue how to fix anything and just buy the latest things even if they are junk lol!

HI SORIN. you want manufactres to make products perfect . but what about all the technician including you??? what you going to do for living 😂😂😂😂
@getmefix1921Ай бұрын
No such thing as perfect. Electronics eventually will fail, but not in a stupid way like this. But honestly, it is our own fault. We want smaller and slimmer devices, hence this is what we get. A flimsy USB C port, which then paired with lead free solder that cracks easily because manufacturers have to comply with RoHS or they can't sell the devices. Anyway, back in the old days when we used to have the entire schematic and the parts to buy, repair techs actually made more money compared to now (with the exception of Northridge Fix 😊)
@JamesDavis-y9zАй бұрын
The problem is a lot of the ports now have 2 rows of pins and the pads very often come off the board. Thats an Evil laptop

your idea of 3 years between the product is nice except intel ,amd , nvidia , qualcomm is releasing new stuff all the time and typical customers are all about the specs (long time since it meant something).. i cringe when people boast about their 200mpx camera on redmi , realme or some other low end brand, but reality is that most people buy that stuff not realising it's worse compared to few year old well made flagship ... my point is LG,Sony, Nokia , Ericson, motorola came up with brilliant phones and look where they ended up ... people want flashy new stuff even if it's worse in comparison it's new ... manufacturers are just selling what is selling and that is product that is cheaper compared with competition and with bigger number on the box ... sad times...
@OKuusavaАй бұрын
I understand perfectly this dilemma. But, I recall my fried, travelling in Hungary. He was very sharp and thinking "all are trying to scam me!" type a guy. So, he was buying at train station a ticket to train. and sad many times that "I want a ticket to this train in this date and time!" The ticked office guy noticed straight that this means what he is saying, and sold the tivket. But when entering the train conductor said "no valid ticket, this is old" Ok, then back to counter askin what matters?! "You wanted to buy old yesterdays ticket, so I sold one!" ;-D

Manufacturers have a development strategy on products they design, they used to design products based on the same internal parts, and the top model board components were present, the base model components were not included, the model looked the same, but the extras aren`t. Schematics are not included so servicing cannot be achived, it would be the same as removing the identification from the components from the board so you didnt know what they were!. Spare parts for products are not produced, it would take up storage space, waiting for the repairer to request a part, but when! Products are made as cheap as possible, a new model is not a new model, it a old products made to look like a new model! fooling the customer who is thinking they are getting an improved product.

if recalling it is something they can't do because of money issues. how about give everyone a free magnetic USBC adapter. that will somehow solve the issue. I have a lenovo that has usbc as charging port. and I have Trust issues on such thing coz it is a laptop.. and a laptop weigh so much compare to a smartphone. you can hold the smartphone from the charging port and it's totally ok. but you can't do that on a laptop. if you happen to bump into that shit while it is charging. it has a higher change of getting broken. because of that I decided to buy myself a magnetic usbc adapter. this way the charging port will never ever experience Stress from anything unexpected.

The problem is that computer makers at least in the Western world, are usually public corporations with shareholders. That is who the corporation is beholding to their shareholders and the bottom line on the quarterly and yearly financial reports. They have to show good profit margins and keep costs under control so that the earnings per share increase each year if possible. In order to sell lots of computers since most people are price conscience the companies go with the lowest bidder to build their computers.
