Maybe it's just that weird Huawei price policy? If you compare the price for i7 X Pro which is $1500 in the US and €1900 in Europe you see the 47% difference now. So I've just got mine online from eBay to save money.

First off this is a great review! I just subscribed and hope your fan base continues to grow. I ordered the i7 configuration from Microsoft a few days ago. I hope the trackpad doesn’t fail. It was between the Matebook X Pro or the Surface Book 2. I won’t game on it and it will mostly be used for school and app development. So if the trackpad is bad I may have to just go for the SB2.

I will definitely continue to follow your reviews. I hope the longevity is there for this laptop. I was going to get the base model SB2 with the 256gb SSD. I currently own the 2017 Surface pro and love it and was iffy about leaving the surface lineup. But the Microsoft store reps sold the heck out of the matebook so I took their word for it. I have 14 days to test it out and see if it fits my needs. I'm hoping you will do a follow up review on the matebook in the near future to see how it held up over a period of a few months.

I have this laptop since august, I absolutely love it, the only things that bother me is that sometimes sound keeps coming from the speakers, even though my headphones are plugged in, and that i am not able to connect my bluetooth headphones.. This laptop is an improvement over the XPS 13 in almost every aspect. Better battery life (when comparing the highest resolution options), even smaller bezels, a dGPU (!!!), brighter and better LTPS display, front-firing better sounding speakers, and (subjective, but pro for me) better build & design. This is coming from someone who owned an XPS 13 9350 and currently owns an XPS 15 9560

Emily Martinez Emily Martinez The MateBook X Pro is a better value and the dedicated GPU is an important distinction if you’re going to be doing any gaming or graphics work. It’s bigger than the XPS 14 though, on account of its larger display. I’m not sure about Huawei’s customer service. They don’t have a huge presence in a lot of countries. At least Dell is a known quantity in North America.

You can’t get an XPS 13 with the same specs because the XPS 13 doesn’t have a MX150 configuration. Still, the comparison between equal size SSD and RAM is still important, and the distinction about the MX150 not being on the XPS furthers your point. But an important distinction nonetheless.

As a fresh owner I can recommend this laptop. One drawback is distortion at high audio levels, loose trackpad and glossy, fingerprint-liking screen. The rest is top notch.

Robin78 Thanks for the feedback. Read about the distortion, but didn’t have that problem. Some people are tying to fix it on their own. Check Google? I thought the anti-fingerprint coating worked pretty well.

In my opinion, the best value ultrabook of 2018 is the HP ENVY x360 13 with AMD Ryzen, the Spectre you reviewed earlier has way too many issues, please do a review on this laptop because I haven’t seen many people reviewing this. It looks identical to the Spectre but at a much lower price.

What I've heard is that the whole Envy series don't have anti-glare on their screens which can be a real annoyance with too much reflection, also overheat issues and loud fan noise.

Aayush Vadhel I don’t use this kind of software, so it’s hard for me to say. From what I’ve read, processing power and RAM are the most important considerations. There is very little difference in processing power between the i5 and i7, but you might appreciate the additional RAM that comes with that model. Also, you want enough space to store your projects. I don’t know if 256 GB would be enough. Maybe someone else with experience could chime in?

Aayush Vadhel The good thing (or not, depends on your perspective) is you only have two models to chose from. The 16 GB configuration is only a few hundred dollars more and will get you all sorts of other upgrades too. Sounds like you should go for that if it’s in your budget.

I ordered an XPS 13 i5 with 16gb of RAM for 1400$CAD on the Dell site four days ago which is why I chose the XPS 13 over the MBXP. Had to think long and hard if 3:2 and a higher res screen was worth losing 8gb of RAM.

There is no such thing as "the best laptop". You need an RJ45 port because you work in datacenters and don't want to have your day ruined because you forgot the adapter? Then neither the MateBook nor the new Zenbook are the best laptops for you. They may be the best in their category (ultrabooks), but I'm not even sure why you would want to have almost no ports just to save 2 millimeters in height, which makes absolutely no difference when you carry the laptop.

Yeah, I mean that's a great laptop, too, but the $1,500 configuration has a smaller SSD and a 1080p display without a touchscreen. 1080 isn't great at 15" unless you're gaming. If you're interested in raw performance, though, the XPS 15 is probably a better choice.

TeddyTech TV I would like to see two version of windows. One customized for touch and other for mouse. The one for touch ( present one ) should not have these bad colors like dark blue and dark black etc. It should be used for media consumption and they should copy ios system ( like ipad ). It should have cool and smooth animation and gesture support as well. The second one should have solid interface like windows 7 and mac os . Both type of windows need to fix their GPU system and good apps in their windows store. Windows devices get slow and lagy. I think its due to its GPU.

Altiano Gerung if you go with the editing sector hands down its the dell xps 15 9570. While if you are a hardcore gamer then the Msi stealth GS65 is great 👍

As a warning, if you buy this laptop and it comes with a toshiba ssd, the drive will not properly work with any windows build 1709 and above. You will receive drive speeds about 3x slower than it should be. As of the moment, I have returned my matebook x pro 3 times and have received 3 devices with Toshiba drives that have had the same problem. I returned for the last time and bought a different computer.

@@TeddyTechTV well if you have any issues like I have a fan noise issue and support or warranty doesnt exist...the keyboard is not very good ..the keys have a cheap membrane feel. My model gets 5.5 hrs of battery per charge...if you travel , it had something up with driver's where it's switched from paid wifi to non paid and gets stuck, requires a reboot...just small stuff adds up...but the glare is the big one...even at night on the plane the small night light is reflected back into your eyes ..so 2006 macbool style...laptop is just fine...nothing special...local brands are better with provided support when things fail and you need repairs.

RE7WERKS I would have returned your unit to where I purchased it from. I have none of those problems and get 10 hours plus at 50 percent brightness (i7). Your unit seems to be defective. Keyboard is on par with my Razer Blade 14 which is one of the best notebook keyboards on the market. Buy the Microsoft extended warranty to have protection through them.
