Huawei Nova 7i and Samsung Galaxy A51 were announced sometime in early 2020 and both capable devices. Their makers are popular brands in Kenya, and have for a long time been associated with premium devices, but clearly they have something for everyone. What we have here today are similarly priced devices with a lot of matching specs that beg the question, do they offer the same value?

So far the lack of GMS is a new experience that will need getting used to, but its not all that bad considering you can get all these android apps available on other app stores. Actually I expected it to be much worse than I'd originally envisioned, but it took some getting used to

This review is so biased towards the Huwaei. How does an 8GB Huwaei compare to an 8GB Samsung and the Huwaei wins? Presenter says A51 has a superior screen but is quick to point out that Nova still gets the job done. How was access to the Playstore not a major factor? Most apps including Kenyan Banking apps can only be found in the Playstore. Google apps like maps are life nowadays. This should have been up there in ranking. I agree with the viewer who has said that this sounds like a sales pitch. Don't get me wrong, I'm a happy Huwaei user but your review is vey biased

Thanks for your feedback. On the points you've highlighted: The RAM and storage options win to the Nova is due to the fact that the price will remain the same for 8gb/128bg while the price will move an extra couple of thousands from 4gb/64gb to 8gb/128gb, a gap of 5k from what we have seen on online stores so far. On the screen, the comparison is not meant to say that one is bad over the other, no, they will both get the job done, but there is one that will give you better value for your money depending on the specs that are most important to you. The Samsung Amoled won and that was clear. On GMS vs HMS we are of the opinion that the Jury is still out on that one. You might not enjoy the convenience of all under one roof supermarket kind of shopping for apps, but you can pick up everything you want from various 'shops and kibandas' on your way home, ensuring you get everything you need. The platform is still android and APKs are available. App transfer is also an option from a GMS phone to an HMS one. Extra step yes, but not impossible. Please note that the review reflects truths based on facts and evidences with receipts to claims provided. The intention is to give you all the information you need to decide. Thanks again.

@@Techweez price is a different assessment point. You compare technical abilities, then price separately. On RAM - if we had two car manufacturers H & S Motors and you are shopping for a car, H Motors has a model with 2,400cc while S motors has a 2,400cc. Wouldn't the rating on engine size be similar? I bet it would. S motors then decides that to cater for a different market, it would produce a 2,000cc and a 1,800cc of the same model... Why would that affect the rating of its 2,400cc?? 🤔🤔.. If anything, it would endear S motors to the public. I hope this makes you appreciate why some of us see bias in your review

What I don't like about the 7i is that doesn't provide google app and doesn't support google at all.😣 And not an AMOLED display. So how can we enjoy the game in an 8gig without the game we want. 🤷‍♀️ limited download in the app gallery and once you DL a Google support then you can't use it. When you use KZbin just use the browser. Just sharing cause I regret to buy the 7i. Sorry not sorry. 😩

There is alot of ways to download Google apps on it, just search on KZbin and for KZbin, you can download from huawei's petal search, huawei's own KZbin vanced wich also comes with KZbin perium, and if you don't have petal search download it from app gallery

Techweez this Sounds more of a sales pitch of the Huawei than a balanced review. Totally misleading on the Camera the A51 is better secondly you shameless claim that Huawei Gallery is a draw to Google play store! Really! Wacha bangi. I believe the Nova 7i is a better hardware in overall sense compared to A51. However it's major draw back is the lack of acces to Google apps. It will take ages for the Huawei Apps Gallery to match half of Google's play store.

The jury is still out on GMS vs HMS, and based on the interactions we've had with it, you might just lose the what you've been used to in GMS. We are not fighting for either or, that's why at this point it is a draw.

The missing play store and google apps in general in Nova 7i is a deal breaker, I wanted the phone but after researchs, I will not buy it! I'd rather buy the Samsung A51, only because it has play store!

Google apps not so much, other android apps yes. Apps like maps and KZbin can be accessed on the browser definitely, with other apps available on various app galleries including the Huawei one

Anyday Samsung. With Huawei you are stuck with the version of android you bought. They give middle finger to their customers. Unless of course you bought the flagship. Samsung gives updates and upgrades continuously. Also Samsung, with a lil software update, it can win all categories except battery charging. Which you can probably use a higher capacity charger than the one which came with it.

This is biased, it's based more on your opinion rather than letting the buyer decide, there are less samples shown of the two device's differences and more of the results you got from your behind the scenes "tests". You use very broad strokes to compare the two devices...I think the point is to let the users make the decision (my opinion). Anyway good content just wasn't executed in the best way.
