Bought the Nova 9 recently, upgraded from P20 pro.Although transfering some information between the phones was a bit of hassle it's worth it, great phone especially when you find it barely used at bargain price. Really smooth nice ui, great redesign of system apps coming from EMUI 10, very good camera too, really like the super fast charging, plus a charger in the box unlike certain companies.

An impressive phone and definately something I'd consider if it was in the UK. Not bothered by google service can life without it. No 5g a bit of a downer, but as I live at the back end of nowhere & getting a reliable 3g single requires you to climb a hill then shimmy up a flag pole it's not really an issue.

It sounds like we are completely dependent on Google. A corporation that can control and determine everything? That just doesn't sound good to me. I have the Nova 9 and there are good alternatives for many programs that I would not have discovered otherwise. Sometimes you have to convince lazy Google users to try such an alternative. But it takes a slightly revolutionary spirit to pull something like this off.

I'm not sure it's 'lazy' to choose a phone where you don't need to look for ways to make your favourite apps work. It's just not an option for lots of people. It's a shame because the Android world would be a better place with Huawei in it.

It is so bitter that in some cases there is no alternative at all to the one provider Google. With Huawei, it would be more interesting in our european market in any case.

I have a p40, at first i was bothered because there was no maps and i really need one, imagine ordering on grab and you cant track your order or being on a place youre not familiar with and you phone cant help you, but the recent updates introduced navigation to HMS so i dont miss the GMS anymore aside from games that you cant open or games where you cant purchase anything bcos of the lack of GMS. But when it comes to E-wallets or online shopping apps i havent encountered any when it comes to online payments

No reflection on your entertaining unboxing videos but I think it was fair of me to switch off at 1:20 after hearing 1: Not available in the UK, 2: No Google services (still) and 3: No gorilla glass. Don't get me wrong I did love Huawei and still own and use a P20 Pro as well as an M5 8" tablet and an M5 10" tablet plus I've recommended and purchased one M5 8" tablet and three M5 10" tablets to friends and family but that was all before the loss of Google services. Anything since the divorce of Huawei and Google is not worth the time now.

I saw nova 9 today in my country. came here to see if can convince myself to buy it. BTW Still using nova2s and Honor V10 since 2018. Battery still lasts a day (wifi+network, no 4g) regarding 3700mah battery.

On a personal note I had the honor 9x global version and I really loved that phone but had to upgrade to the redmi note 10 pro%max because the lack of software updates still running emui 10 with Android 10 a real shame it was a great phone did what I wanted and plus not sure on future updates

I have been a loyal huawei user and I recently bought a Huawei P40 pro knowing that I don't give a toss about google, now I discovered my aviation apps don't work on it, youtube web is trash as it refreshes constantly and there just isn't an effortless bond between my phone and my tablet due to absence of Google. The phone is extremely good looking and sleek with almost zero bezel and great camera, but a modern huawei phone is just not worth it... I literally sold it and got a mate 20 pro instead.
