That's quite true but we mostly use speedtests for fun nowadays. The difference we see nowadays in opening times are so small that it's only good for bragging that your smartphone did better than a rival. In daily usage we are in a position where we no longer need these tests before buying a flagship device as it's pretty much granted to be pretty fast. But i would still kinda like to see these tests as they are fun to watch. I do tech videos in a new style. If you are free kindly do give my channel a look.

The P20 Pro is no pushover, but really little to go by with the release prices. They could have cut in to Samsung's Market share going a little more cheaper on that price. S9+ £869 - Better screen resolution, wireless charging, only 64gb storage but does have SD Card slot P20 PRO £799 - lower res, no wireless charging or sd card slot but a huge 128gb memory as standard. Tough one, but if you had to pay that money what would you go for? The UK offer of free Bose headphones does make the P20 Pro very tempting.

The only comparison these phones should get are in cameras. The Kirin 970=SD 835. When the Kirin 980 comes out in October/Nov, you can then compare it to SD 845.

Thats because the 970, just considering the CPU side, is pretty much a 960. They mainly focused on the whole machine learning stuff. So this Comes in as no surprise. Question ist, if the 970 can benifit from the extra Features and optimization for machine learning, and if any developer can somehow gain anything out of it. But for apples to apples app loading the 970 will still be on 835 level

A suggestion for more thorough testing : try to load for example a big book ( pdf file ) of 2000-3000 pages. see who is quicker, and try for example to jump to different pages ( from 1 to 700 for example directly) and see who is quicker in such a task. its a good indication about the management of the processor, i hope you got my idea and would love to see it in your videos

Definitely think people need to wait for the Mate 20 before considering a new Huawei phone. It's definitely going to benefit from the new HiSilicon release and a refinement on the camera. The Kirin 970 doesn't feel up to par with how the 845 and the 9810 performs (not even the A11 Bionic), especially SoCs this year were pressured to catch up with how well the A11 Bionic performs.
