Hi Gary. The P9 Plus actually has dual Speakers, there's another speaker above the screen with the earpiece. You also forgot to mention that you can remove the on-screen keys entirely and use pressure sensitivity to go to Home/Back/Multitask. This is the setup I prefer personally on my P9Plus as it gives you more screen space. Otherwise, nice review!

Thanks for the info. The earpiece acts as a tweeter (treble only, no bass, low volume). If you cover the bottom speaker you can hardly hear anything, so basically it is a bit of a stretch to call it dual speaker.

I was worried about that. There's a mod on the Oneplus One that did essentially the exact same. You can hear it up close if you're trying but from more than even a foot or two away it's almost inaudible.

Best phone I've ever used (coming from a nexus 6p). 2 months in and I still it enjoy it as much as on the first day. Especially the very bright amoled screen, the snappiness and the long battery life .

Jay G most of smartphone will slow the charging above 80 percent of battery to save the board or chipset. It called fast charging because it can be charged 50 percent faster than usual.

The P9 Plus feature Dual-Speakers... it's the same Setup like the HTC10 also feature...One Skeaper is on the Front and the over one is one the bottom

I bought a p9 lite, and in 20 days after I got this phone,it didn't have even 1 freeze or lag, Huawei is doing really good job these days, when i compare it to my brothers galaxy s5 that costed more than twice on its replace and started lagging after 10 days...

It has STEREO, not single speakers, genius. The earpiece does the treble, the bottom one does the bass.

Pretty sure it has a front facing speaker from the earpiece like the HTC 10...

The earpeice does need act as a tweeter, meaning with no bass, treble only. But it is very low in volume and really doesn't deserve to be called stereo nor front facing. If you cover over the bottom speaker then you basically can't hear anything.

superiorlion015 If you consider a tweeter a speaker then yes. Let me put it this way, if you play a stereo test that has low-end sound coming out of the left channel and you cover up the bottom speaker then you won't hear anything. Not very stereo really!

i have this fone, so far i like it. I just find the audio is a bit bad if the volume is on its max. but if you lower it it will be better. I also found out that once i watch youtube video on fullscreen, not sure if it is the app or not, but the volume will switch to a lower volume. correct me if im wrong and let me know if theres a way for me to fix this.

Huawei could have included the OIS in the Plus version, maybe it would help with the video experience and add a feature that potential buyers could have find interesting. Bigger screen size and added gig of ram isn't that much of a value imo... all in all, good phone with an UI that definitely isn't for everyone

Yes i would not mind one myself , its clearly not the best device on the market , but it does have some cool features , and a pity the plus is not sold in Australia , other than the 6p , and the mate 8 and p9 does seem to get very limited exposure in some stores(not many though). I`m not keen on buying an import that was ment to be for the chinese market and converted to english . it seems Huawei has given given up down under , the company did have a bunch of kiosks in shopping centres for some months , but it appears most have been shut down.

The 2 camera setup, force touch and infrared port is nice but if they had basic features like 1440p display, OIS, and 4k video it would be a definite buy for me.

the only reason i can, why they dont go higher, is that the Human eye doesnt see any Big difference between 1080p and 1440p, besides 1080p doesnt drain your battery that fast

Honestly, chances are that there isn't much of a defirence to the naked eye between QHD and full HD.(it depends on your eyesight), but even then, the defirence isn't that big). FHD is still fine I think, and I QHD is better suited for screens larger than 5.5 inches. Also keep in mind they did it to lower the cost and focus on the battery life. Your opinion is totally fine, in fact, I agree with you, but just ceep in mind sacrifices had to be me in order to ceep the price down. Don't let the screen resolution ceep you from buying the phone - as seen in the review, the phone is pretty much the complete package, and is indeed quite a good alternative to the more expensive s7 family and others from htc, sony, Apple, LG, etc.

no, they actually work differently. For example, you can hidden the virtual key and free up the space at the bottom and use the force touch to act as the virtual key. Press harder for the virtual key and normal touch for the apps and games

i did a KZbin *HD sound comparison in the store*/shop with 7s edge, P9plus and m8, m9. They all sounded like phones, accept for the P9plus, which made the sound more like, you didn't knew where it came from, more natural, more base, less flat. Best sound to my ears.(loudest as-well, but like Gary said, sounds better to take the sound back or down a bit. Also for some safety issue's) I prefer the best Stereo sound (with DAC if possible, if this matters) from a phone. Second, id like more storage for my DAC best audio sound files, 4k movie's and games, and for picture's taken in RAW format. So some good speed to make the software, flow, go smooth, and a good battery is also importend, right?. ("500GB storage should be the limit what it should at least have, although still a dream that did not came true in rl.") Did anyone compare the sound of the S7 Note with P9plus? (i haven't had the chance. Not in the store's yet i do believe, at least not to compare.) Anything else that is different between these 2 that i should know about? Can anyone advice me what i should be looking at when im buying the P9plus? So that i wont buy the wrong version of this phone. i live in the Netherlands or also called Holland. I know that there are versions that have bugs that make errors in Chinese or something. And some that have bloatware.... o.0 yes... O.o ...

Huawei's main brand main issue is value, as rightly pointed out by sone of the commenters here. Their Honor line has much better value and has a good idea on who their target market is, and just how much compromise their devices need to be. If Huawei really want their P and Mate line to succeed, they'll need more effort to making their devices premium, with premium features included.

so normaly I would care about specs and benchmarks. I got my LG V10 today. compared to my old G3 its never stutters where the G3 sometimes did. but why would I need a phone that's even faster then the V10? games run perfect doh. I think specs isn't really the real deal atm in smartphones, its the display, battery and extra functions.

The P9 Plus has one front facing speaker (earpiece) and one on the bottom, it has the same setup as the HTC 10.

I think this is just a update version of HTC_ONE_M8. total copy, dual camera, ir blast, focus after taking pic, app drawer, gesture n goes on. N that's the difference between brand & Chinese brand. Btw p9 is not bad 👍
