I think that Huawei nailed camera on this phone. Those few samples you shove seems to have very very good dynamic range (almost like DSLR) and color accuracy,and small video sample and the end looks very promising. Looking forward to your full "CAMERA" review.

OneMinuteFixed I think it's likely a strategic move to not piss off other hardware partners, but something needs to change in how updates are handled, and if making the Nexus more visible will do that, I'd be all for that move.

I've got mine ordered and will have it on release day here on May 6th! Really looking forward to it, love Black & White photography, and my wife owns an Honor 7, so I know Huawei is an awesome make. EMUI 4.1 should be ok, my wife loves it, I can always put Nova on it if I don't get on with it. And Huawei finger print scanners are sooooo sweet, and in the correct place!

Is there something special about the aspherical element(s) of the Leica module (to elicit it being printed right in the phone), or is it just branding?

+KuronoXD Well, it's more a photography thing. On DSLR lenses, you tend to talk about what kind of glass is INSIDE that lens more. Leica allowing their brnad to be used here is probably dictating what information is included on the back of the phone. I am of course totally speculating.

I was reading Huawei said the camera modules are tuned to Leica standard and not actually made by Leica that is kind of a bummer. I think it is kind of tricky marketing by Huawei.

This is a really sharp phone, but man that branding must have costed a pretty penny because there's little reason to get this over something like Huawei's on 6P. May not have the Leica branding, but also has an exceptional camera.

People who shoot landscapes have different needs than sports photogs, portrait, macro, long exposure, candid, event, scientific, nature, or travel photographers. Our phones are starting to divide the same way...
