At Huawei's price, the phone should be incredible. In fact, the screen folds break down and owners will end up with broken screens. And what's the point? Get a normal sized phone for every day out and about use, and a laptop/notebook for use at home, and save a lot of money as a bonus.

Besides the aesthetic features of a three-fold phone, there’s really not much new to go for. Sure some of its brand can even extend the screen automatically, but the one thing this brand fails in is the performance over time. People who bought from the brand have been voicing on platforms like Weibo and Little Red Book, about how flimsy and unreliable the phones are after only 2-3 months of usage. Not to mention how bad their after sales service are, as they don’t offer free repairs for internal and hardware issues. They even blame the customers for damaging it, even though in many cases it’s been proven by the internet that it’s just not true. Apple and Samsung on the other hand, will do it for free within a year as long as there’s no external damages.

If Huawei fulfils only half of the already available 6 million Chinese pre-orders at an average price of $3000 that means they make $9 billion (*in revenue) off this device alone. That's without counting additional preorders, over the counter sales and sales in other countries for their forthcoming global version/s. Quite a feat from a company that was mainly recognised in the past for imitating Apple. *Edit: - added the $9 Billion figure above refers to revenue. After deducting manufacturing costs and other relevant expenses the profit from this one device may probably be more than $4.5B based on the above scenario.

So out of the $9B above, likely $4.5B in profit. Likely more however as with more sales, production costs get cheaper due to materials discounting etc. Not bad for Huawei.

It does look impractical though, because it is a trifold phone the folding screen will sit out on the exterior. Folding screens aren't as durable as glass screens so it will scratch and just a drop will probably scuff the entire screen. You can literally leave dents in your screen using your finger nail thats how fragile the screens are.

Well like, the company is based in one of the most populated and conservative countries on the planet, of course it will be doing well. I think 1 fold really impractical because you need to open to use it but if you don't want to frequently open it you need added screen too. I don't know how popular it will be, but two fold seems like the most logical phone transition to tablet so far.
