The extra bezel caused by the hinge is a major eyesore. I will take the narrow outer screen of the Galaxy Fold over the hinge bezel any day.

I can't believe more people don't talk about this. The fold 6 is the most symmetrical fold out there and it looks soooooo much cleaner because of it. The pixel fold 2 is incredibly ugly to me. The super thick bezels and the completely asymmetrical front drive me crazy

I hated that the Fold 6 front screen was smaller than average until I picked up the Pixel Fold. Being able to use the Fold 6 one handed is great. I don't know if this was Samsung's original idea for the ratio, but it honestly works out. The new square sides of the front screen make it the first Galaxy Fold phone where I feel I can use the front screen comfortably without compromise. I'm not sure now that I'd want it much bigger. Just a bit thinner.

desktop mode makes the fold 6 way more worth it for the money, can be phone, ereader, tablet, laptop (with a lapdock), desktop (with a monitor), spatial computer (with ar glasses), game console (with tv), handheld game console (with kishi etc)

Cheers for the review! I'm gutted about the change in aspect ratio to be honest. I loved the form factor of the first Pixel Fold. That along with the fact that Google clearly hasn't finished optimising their full screen apps for the new aspect ratio is why I'm probably going to hang onto my OG Pixel Fold. I'm definitely curious about what Google will bring out next year though.

I wish it had the same "modes and routines" as the ZFold. It's very handy feature to automate a lot of settings. Also, miss the built-in dynamic wallpapers on ZFold. I really like the feel and size of the Pixel fold over the Z Fold or the S24 Ultra.

The Fold 9 will charge with the Pixel Stand (lst and 2nd gen). All you need to do is to raise the phone by the thickness of a standard pencil. I used two standard size emery boards (fingernail files), cut them in half and trimmed them to the width of the stand, stuck them together and they worked perfectly. The Stand is slippery and the emery boards make the phone secure and should cause no marks on the phone/case unless sawed back and forth (why?) There's no problem charging in landscape mode, just slide along until it charges - no props needed. A bit Heath Robinson but it works.

Would love to see an in depth comparison of all 3 in terms of Hinge Quality, performance, battery life, camera, and multi-tasking. Am a power-user and I’ve been wanting to buy a foldable for some time now because of the multi-tasking features but I’m super skeptical of the previously mentioned categories because it just feels wiser to use something like the s24 Ultra without having to compromise on build quality (hinges), camera reliability, software bs, battery life or performance… Would be great to multitask more but that means nothing if am paying more $ for a compromise in any one of those areas.

About £1800 for an empty box. You still got to buy a charger for the device, buy a case for protection, buy a screen guard for screen protection and you still buy headphones for music. At the end you spend maybe more than £2000. Spending this much on the device with no accessories is crazy. Google, just put the damn accessories in the box

The oneplus open did the foldable perfectly, the multitasking and split screen is the best of any foldable. The battery is how you want it, it lasts all day if not sometimes 2 days but charges rapidly. The hinge is fautless, not had any issues with any of the screens for any reason. And for those who might be worried about the water resistant rating... Mine has fell in a deep dirty puddle, it works perfectly fine when raining (no mistouch on wet screen) and its even been covered in Vodka (Accident on holiday). And yet it still works as good as day 1. One day it also fell out my pocket and landed screen down, no screen damage or scratches, just 2 tiny chips on the metal top left corner. Wont say it couldnt be better because theres always room for improvement, i wish it had snapdragon gen 3 not 2. And although the cameras are good, theyre not amazing compared to S24 Ultra or Pixel phones, but they are great cameras on a foldable compared to others. Theres more little things that could be improved but theyre only niggles.

They're squared off because it lets the device be symmetrical since the hinge side has to be square on a folding phone anyways. And It does look significantly better than the 50% super round and 50% super pointed corners of the pixel. Things go in and out of fashion all the time, but this is just a matter of practicality. Your example of the curved edges of phones is fair, but even that's not a universal thing. Just because a few reviewers don't like rounded edges doesn't mean everyone has to dislike them. I actually loved the design of my old note 20 ultra and feel the newer models have all been going backwards design-wise.

Oppo Find N is still the best foldable I've seen. Wish Googke or Samsung made a foldable just like that, not everyone wants huge phones. Google, offer a regular Fold version please. The first Fold was a great size.

I was all in for the new fold but after seeing your review I'm worried about the touch sensitivity. I returned the OnePlus Open last year for that exact reason, some parts of the inner screen didn't register while scrolling. IPX8 simply means ingress of solids isn't tested. That actually instills more confidence in me than an IP48 rating, because IP4X is really quite a poor (if dubious) rating for solids ingress. Usually, an IPX8 rating means that X is inherently worth at least a 5 or 6.

Ive been on apple for 10 years. Looking to go to android now. Unfortunately, after seeing the insane warranty issues Samsung hit my gf with on her fold phone. I wont ever get one from Samsung. Hopefully the Google Fold is better and wont have the issue’s Samsung fold phones had. But trying to get them to warranty a phone less than a year old with NO physical issues is crazy. Denied me at two places and then told me to go to a samsung store. Thank goodness AT&T handled it for us with the extra money she pays on insurance. My buddy didnt have the warranty issue on his phone when it messed up but the new phone he got had issues a month later. He swapped to apple because of it. Beware of the Samsung foldable!

Can confirm: Samsung does not honour the warranty on the Fold (e.g. problems with the hinge) except for things that are very obviously manufacturing defects.

Zfold 6 feels and looks more premium than 9 pro fold, what I can’t stand are those chunky black bezels on 9 pro fold and of course that the price is around $650 more expensive for the 9 pro fold (trading an iPhone 13 Pro Max) I guess at least for me this time I’ll buy zfold 6.

6:15 that hole punch is so ugly and dated. The Z Fold's UDC makes it so much more immersive. The quality of the UDC is absolutely fine for video calls, which is the only time you're going to use it. 8:30 Samsung's apps are often better than Google's. "Stock Android" just means "dumbed down and stripped out" at this point, or "round and colourful." 10:20 the Pixel taskbar doesn't show your four most recent apps in addition to the pinned apps like the Z Fold, does it? Also, the Z Fold's ability to use floating windows on top of split screen makes a huge difference.

The small screen on the Samsung is perfect size for one-handed use. You get a foldable phone to obviously use the big screen most of the time. Samsungs OS is superior, you can also buy a Stylus pen for it. Samsung also has a 1TB version of the Fold.

I'm in the UK and ordered mine from EE yesterday. Was shocked to find that the full price from them for the 512GB Obsidian version is a little over £1200. Over 3 years I'm paying about £30 a month. Not sure if this information is helpful to anyone but if you're wanting it but the £1700 price tag is a bit too rich for your tastes then EE's price is probably a little more attractive? It could be that other carriers are doing the same. Just sharing my own experience.

The wireless charging is the largest concern I heard as I use those exclusively to charge. I'm not sure how they got out the door with that issue, but it could be software as well as hardware placement.

Before you showed us here this foldy I was not aware how much I dislike this PIXEL hindge that has been pulled sidewise while on (my) FOLD 6 the hindge and the bezels are quasi absent.. I tought that I'll be like UUFF, I COULD GO FOR SOME OTHER BENDY INSTEAD OF THE FOLD 6 but now after all of the other OEMs had tossed out their models I am trully sodisfied with my decision.. Cherrs 🎉 P.S. While holding them side by side I can see how much Samsung has struck into my aestethics preferences with this squared/sharp cornered/"no" bezel "nor" hindge design.. I got the blue one and manage to get 0 trade in because I left my S24 ULTRA home for my mother to use but got the s pen case and the buds 3 pro within this early buy.. Buying the S24 ULTRA before the FOLD 6 also got me realy nice gifts from Samsung, the FIT 3, BUDS FE and TAB A9.. Realy nice gifts I must say

I had my Z Fold 4 for 2 years and no problem. It only lost the preinstalled screen protector but worked even without it perfectly fine

Great review 👏 where I was looking for battery issues here but none was mentioned! I received mine on the 4th and after 3 days I realised that the battery can at some points drain dramatically (5% in 20 minutes in idle state!). It can also lose around 20% at night over roughly 7 hours!! Any advice here! Should I return it and cancel the purchase?

Please talk about the crease more next time when you do a review or a comparsion of foldable phones. Other things/features exist on regular slab phones too so i think there is not that much of a need to talk about them as compared to the crease and durability of folding phones.
