🚨📢 Update: *Full Course is Under Construction* --> pracnet.net/networking 👉👉 Enroll now for *discounted early access* to the course and a chance to help shape its content. 📺▶ Module 1 Playlist - Networking Fundamentals: kzbin.info/aero/PLIFyRwBY_4bRLmKfP1KnZA6rZbRHtxmXi 💭💬 Join us on Discord: pracnet.net/discord _--- Original Comment below: ---_ *Full Course Status: Wait and See.* Hopefully you've come to realize that I put _a lot_ of effort into the content I create. I'm not a course creator that will simply turn on the screen recording and ramble, then call that teaching. I meticulously plan _every_ module and lesson to _maximize the learning and value_ for the student. To that end, it takes me a while to put together courses. If I'm going to dedicate the time, resources, and energy to putting this full course together, I need to know that there is enough interest in the full course. I'm rating that by how wide a reach this series achieves. *If you are interested in seeing the full course developed, then the best way to bring that to fruition is to spread the word about this content* . By itself it already conveys _a lot_ of value. So sharing even just the 7 lessons (13 videos) in this series will surely help whoever you share it with. Plus ... many online communities would greatly benefit from these videos. Think of all the Internet points you could acquire if you shared this series (karma, likes, follows, etc.) 😉 Use this link to share the full series: kzbin.info/aero/PLIFyRwBY_4bRLmKfP1KnZA6rZbRHtxmXi Also, if you share it on Twitter or LinkedIn, please tag me =): twitter.com/ed_pracnet/ www.linkedin.com/in/eharmoush/

Man I don't think you understand how much your channel help uni student or anyone interested in networking in general. You shouldn't be "thanking us" for watching your videos. It should be the other way around and we the consumers saying thank you is really an understatement. Your teachings are honestly so great. I don't even need to "cram" the definitions for these because your teaching and using videos and pictures to illustrate your point, make understanding and knowing the definitions 100 times easier. Seriously, you do not need to thank us. Yes, perhaps you're getting some revenues from us watching and perhaps why you're grateful, but what you are doing to "paying" us compared to what we are paying you is like a scam. I'm probably typing some nonsense here, but really... I'm just flabbergasted with your teaching. I'm more than grateful for it. And you will be the main reason I will pass my networking course in uni. Would absolutely love to donate to you for making these all free, but i'm a broke student unfortunately. Just so grateful for your time and dedication to do all these.

Not everybody understand network engineering and computer since It's really useful and great video but the real equation would be how do routers really work in the real world how do they take the path and how to create your own router which routers are the best and their operating systems which one is best. I really would like to know how do they work on practice like take one and disassemble it hardware and software like he shown with two routers in two lan groups and why router is connected to the ISP modem and "is my router connect to my ISP modem-router first can I control it or by default must be connected to the ISP modem ?" . And what tools do routers provide as software how to reset it and how to setting the router settings Overall great contents for beginners

Hi, I want to confirm that i understand the thing correctly so sorry if my question is stupid. So when the Marketing Team in New York wants to send data to the Sales team in Tokyo, it is going to firstly send it to their default gateway in their network which is the router and then the router will send it to other routers in the internet with service information about the destination( sales team Tokyo) and then the other routers will keep re-sending it to other routers untill it reaches that specific network which is indicated in the data information ( MY EXAMPLE; it is sending it from network 10.20.x.x to network 10.40.x.x but what is hard for me to understand is when the information travelling trough the internet other routers keep resending it untill it reaches a router where is linked to a network 10.40.x.x? Also how does the computer knows the ip address of the other computers so he can be able to know where to send this information? Thank you in advice for the answer

Studying for Network+ right now and even though I am using some courses on Udemy, your YT courses remain the absolute best in explaining stuff. Your course on Subnetting is absolutely outstanding and this one really simplifies the Network Basics as well. One question though, around minute 7 when talking about Switches you use IP-addresses to identify all hosts on the network. But if I understood correctly from the Udemy courses, Switches (atleast the normal/older ones) don't use IP addresses to communicate but MAC addresses. Can I assume you are using IP addresses to keep it simple because we have not been introduced (yet) to MAC addresses? Or are you using a L3 Switch? Or did I misunderstand something in the previous courses I watched? :D
@PracticalNetworking
@PracticalNetworking 2 жыл бұрын
Hi Zantas. Thank you for the kind words =). Glad you are enjoying this content! Regarding your question, a Switch doesn't need an IP address unless traffic is being sent TO or FROM the switch (instead of THROUGH the switch). More details on this in the Switching video: kzbin.info/www/bejne/d5myhmWbhNWgjpI As for communicating with MAC addresses vs IP addresses, that comes down to the protocol being used. CDP/LLDP/STP are all L2 protocols, so do their communication with L2 addresses. Hope this helps. PS: Could you do me a favor? Do you mind sharing this video on Linked In, Reddit, Twitter, Facebook, or any other social media you use? As an independent creator, that would be an _enormous_ help, and I would appreciate it _greatly_ .

I like the main takeaway summaries that you do at the end of the video, and the graphics that you use to show how the network devices are connected and organized in the network (along with the animations) ....very helpful for visual learners! The real-life example graphics help also (the Acme Corporation and its subnets and how it all connects to the greater Internet via routers, etc.). I was confused at first when I first read in another source that routers have multiple IP addresses, and then now it totally makes sense when you explained what a gateway is. My mind was blown at the end when you said that all those other networking devices (load balancers, access points, proxies, etc.) can perform switching and/or routing functions ....that really simplifies things and helps maintain the bigger picture of how important switches and routers are to networking. You are doing a service to society (and I mean the world) by providing this easy-to-understand information for free, which is why I love KZbin (and also why I wished this existed back when I was in school haha). I love how knowledge is being openly shared with the hopes of having a net effect of human society (on the global scale) evolving and progressing as a whole with this accessible and easy-to-digest knowledge. Learning is a life-long process, and your teaching style makes learning networking very interesting and fun! You surely have a gift with your knowledge of networking, but you also have a gift in teaching which I think is even more valuable because it can translate to other topics. Kudos to you kind sir, and please keep doing what you do best! Cheers.

I studied for and passed A+ 1101 memorizing what these things were, but I realize I did not fully understand them until I watched this video. It's like a lightbulb just went off in my head.

This is a great video. At 4:12 you mention ‘packets’ but we’re talking layer 2 of the OSI model here so the correct term is ‘(Ethernet) frame’. ‘Packets’ are layer 3. 👌🏻
@PracticalNetworking
@PracticalNetworking 2 жыл бұрын
In the technical sense, you are correct. Frames are the L2 construct... =) HOWEVER, from a teaching perspective, I intentionally didn't introduce the concepts of packets vs frames until the next lesson when I discuss the OSI model. =). It's all part of the journey of going deeper and deeper into Networking, and I didn't want to go too deep too quick to make it easier to learn.

Can a bridge have more than 2 ports? My instructor told us a bridge has 4 ports idk if he's wrong
@PracticalNetworking
@PracticalNetworking 2 жыл бұрын
Bridge's are pretty legacy at this point, so it's unlikely to come across them now. That said... I did remember occasionally seeing some 4 port bridges, but they acted like two separate bridges. (i.e., port 1 and 2 were internally linked, and port 3 and 4 were internally linked). Yo could say Port 1 and 2 were bridged, and Port 3 and 4 were bridged. etc.

All I can say is THANK YOU! You have no idea how much this has helped me thus far on my IT journey. I wish I could do more than just a like, comment, and a subscription, but as a student I can't really afford much but to relate to you my unbridled respect and support in some way. Once again THANK YOU and I hope you are having a blessed day!!!

I can't thank you enough. I've been trying to learn networking lately and even after going through multiple tutorials I found it very difficult to wrap my head around certain concepts. Turns out that I had a lot of knowledge gaps. This channel helped me to fill those gaps and learn new things smoothly. Incredible work. I'll always be grateful to you.

Glad you enjoyed this series, Rahul! Glad it finally made networking "click" for you. You're very welcome! Could you do me a favor? Do you mind sharing this video on Linked In, Reddit, Twitter, Facebook, or any other social media you use? As an independent creator, that would be an _enormous_ help, and I would appreciate it _greatly_ .

In your explanation about routers creating an ip address that shares the same ip address space as all the devices it's connected to, I'm confused. How would all my devices share that same ip address space? I thought that when you get a phone or computer or whatever they all just come with their own ip addresses. But if ip addresses DO change, then how does a router know what ip address to assign itself if its own identity relies on all the devices its connecting to to create its ip address? That bit seemed somewhat important but I'm definitely missing something lol
@PracticalNetworking
@PracticalNetworking Жыл бұрын
They share the same *IP space*, not *ip address*. So all devices in a network (ex, a home network) have an IP in the 192.168.100.[0-255] range

Where can I begin, you are really what we call a great teacher, the way u made the lesson simple but yet very imformative in a small time, means that you really master ur area. as if Iearning networking for tge first time, u tackled it a a whole new way plus doing it with real example made us assimilate it easily.
