The 1953 1954 Pontiac hubcap at 1:47 was the first hubcap I ever saw fly off a car in the Bronx NY when I was 5 years old. The car was really beat up and a real clunker and as it went by us the hubcap rolled right onto the sidewalk where we were walking. I brought it back to the apt and have been collecting ever since. Now, in 2023 I own a brick and mortar hubcap store and an eBay store as well, both called *hubcapjoes*

I love this because I remember when I came in America when I was 15 and I saw all these cars, they looked like so luxurious to me. And everyone could have one. It was something else than my father's trabant.

Whoa! Thought I missed a HCG!. I was reading some of my old ' Motor Trend' magazines this past week and in the April '58 issue it had a little article on wheel covers. It stated they were made from 301 S.S. a relatively high grade. A little further research showed that food grade S.S. is 304. and is most common. It is an 18-8 mix. 18% chromium and 8% nickel.

These wonderful wheel covers/hubcaps are from a better time. When cars had style and character. When the average person working an average job could afford a new car at least once in their lives. When you could get a car with absolutely no options, check every box, or something in between. Now all vehicles are computerized plastic garbage with too much unnecessary technology. I absolutely HATE new vehicles. Especially those garbage crossovers. Sorry, had to vent. Thanks Steve for showing me things from a better time

@richardbates23679 ай бұрын
Alot of the hubcaps would be a neat touch to people's project cars and trucks and use some of them from something else or something older than the vehicle as long as it fits the wheel clips in place doesn't harm or damage the valve stem or interfere with suspension components and hubs like the trucks sticking through the wheel can really change the look of your project and you don't have to broke on a new set of wheels i did that alot as I was younger kinda like the 89 Chevy S10 regular cab short bed 2wd el trim truck? Ehm i had i ran 14x6 Buick Regal steel mag wheels on the s10 with Douglas performance gt tires on the s10

Our 1970 LTD had those wheel covers first featured. It was a four door in white, with a black vinyl top - and that 390 2V... '65 Impala SS? There was a rusty one near me when I was young. It was light blue, 283, Powerglide, and it had a vacuum gauge on the console! Even the little bright metal rings on the taillights were rusted/corroded!!!

Sorry steve..in 81 - 82 the granada went to the fairmont chassis layout they did offer a station wagon
@googleusergp Жыл бұрын
Correct, Pontiac 287 CID V8 for 1955. That's not correct on the Granada, you could get it as a wagon in 1982, the final year for the Granada. They would have been assembled in Hapeville (Atlanta), GA or Chicago, IL. The latter plant still operates today and Hapeville closed in 2006. Yes, the SS package was an appearance package in some cases, so yes, you could it with a six-cylinder engine. That looks like a Regal hubcap from the 1980s, say 1983 or so. Those would have been mid-size A or G body cars. Nah, no confusing that Sun-turd hubcap with anything to do with a Trans Am. LOL. That ink stamping was likely put on by the vendor that supplied them to Chrysler, yes. Many times they will put the customer's (manufacturer's) part number on it for them to keep track of what they are selling. Katie is coming by for a visit. She's a good woofer, very well-behaved. You mean "Delta 88" as there was no "Delta 98". It would have been a "98 Regency" if anything. No, those are 1980 and up full size Oldsmobile wheel covers, more like the Delta 88 (the 98s had a smaller center section). Both ITT Industries and Norris made them for GM, and the difference is the clip design that holds them to the wheel and the locking bolt down the center. You can make a "Type 1 and a half" of sorts, which is what I did. I use the later parts and made them work on the 1st design parts as the clips are better and they stay on the rim better. Those rocket snap on emblems and most of the wheel parts were available well into the 1990s and early 2000s.

The Buick Wildcat wheel cover is from a ‘64, just like the car you spotlighted. that you called a ‘66.
@rimtrim Жыл бұрын
If you compare that wire Olds cap with the 15" Buick from a previous video, you'll notice that they look almost the same on the outside, but all the parts are different. Not a Buick vs. Olds difference actually, but a Norris Industries vs. ITT difference. There's also a Norris version of the Olds cap, which is identical to the Buick except the center hub. GM added ITT as a second supplier for these in the early '80s, which resulted in a lawsuit between the two suppliers. Norris lost the suit, establishing that the visual appearance of a wire wheel cover is not copyrightable.
