It may not have a "traditional" 11 degree crown but looking at the picture you can see where the rifling ends and that it is in fact perpendicular to the bore. The small unrifled section is wider and will protect the rifling. Thanks for posting, Gregor.

As always, very informative, Gregor. I think the velocity was a bit too high for the JSB Exact Kings, hence the deteriorated accuracy, and perhaps - some spiraling down range. But like you said, lowering the power setting of the gun will lead to it operating with no balance between all the variables. The groups with the Exact King Heavies were very, very good at that distance indeed. I am impressed. A lot of accuracy and a lot of power from a semi-auto airgun, shooting a projectile I for one think is a very good one. I can't wait to get my hands on one of these in .25 and blast some varmint with the 34 grain JSB. Thanks for sharing, bud!

Thanks :) You are probably right. I will take more time to record Part 2 to test best settings for each pellet. This range videos were done in first take, I only sighted in the gun approx. and start recording. The gun has only about 100 pellets through it until now, so I expect better results once I put 500 + pellets through.

Good review as always! My huben .25 has a very different connection of the barrel vs what i have seen on your previous videos, any videos or photos at all. It looks like a very big nut which the barrel goes through and then into the black parts where the magasine is. Waiting eagerly for part 2 to see how this barrel is connected. Keep up the good work! /M

Hello Gregor You who have used the huben k1 2020 and the rti prophète performance, is there a difference in their precision and reliability? thank you in advance
@gregorkamensek3923
@gregorkamensek3923 3 жыл бұрын
Really hard to compare those two guns as they are in completely different category. if only those two criteria are important to you, then simply because of the semi auto function and the way the gun operates, the Prophet will be slightly more reliable and accurate than the K1.

@@georgest4194 Thanks:) If you already have Leshiy2, then I would in your case get Prophet. L2 is very similar to K1 in principle of operation (basically you already have a semi-auto gun for fun :))... Regarding accuracy, a gun tat shoots out of the magazine can only get same or more likely worse accuracy than the one shooting form the barrel (if both guns are "the same" otherwise). This is simple logic, if the barrel on the gun that shoots out of the barrel is done properly, the one that is shooting form magazine can only come close regarding magazine to barrel alignment in perfect conditions but never quite there... Both K1 and L2 are using this method (shooting out of the magazine) and they both suffer with some accuracy lost (mostly in having flyers - making spirals).

With the details of the slug dimensions it should be relatively simple to work out the minimum twist rate needed for stability with the right software. Don't use the Kolbe calculator though for speeds above 300m/s or less than around 400m/s.
@gregorkamensek3923
@gregorkamensek3923 3 жыл бұрын
You are right but as you mentioned yourself, those calculators are for supersonic projectiles where the stability formula is quite different. I have not find any good twist rate calculator that would also work in subsonic region. It is also very much dependent on slug shape. I have already tested some slugs and the only ones that seem to fly straight are flat tail, definitely not boat tails...
@milesm1465
@milesm1465 3 жыл бұрын
@@gregorkamensek3923 The Kolbe calculator is not too bad at speeds below around 250-350m/s compared to a much more complex calculator, it is between 300 and 400m/s that it seems less accurate being based on the McGyro calculator. The McGyro also assumes a solid slug so hollow points will not be correct. IntLift on the JBM site which was derived from some of my very early software first written 40 years ago may give some estimates, but I do not know how good it is at subsonic speeds on some of the current slug shapes. It will only give the aerodynamic coefficients, you would still need to calculate the stability factor separately. One of the problems with boat tail rounds is the reverse flow as the bullet leaves the barrel, this is why some rounds have a rebate at the start of the boat tail. The main point with boat tails though is that they are destabilising and will require more twist compared to a cylindrical base of the same dimensions but they can be made to fly satisfactorily though it will be difficult with air rifle twist rates and solid lead rounds. In the end it is all down to the moments of inertia and the aerodynamic moments both of which require specific calculators which very few people have access to unless they have worked in the field and have developed their own systems.
@gregorkamensek3923
@gregorkamensek3923 3 жыл бұрын
@@milesm1465 Yes, I agree with all you have written. I topically use Geoffrey Kolbe calculator, but as you mentioned, these calculations are more an approximation and real world tests might produce different results.

Thanks for all of your very detailed reviews of the Huben K1. I was looking into buying a LCS SK19 but started leaning towards the K1 later. Now I'm not so sure anymore. I think it's a real bummer that the K1 doesn't like slugs. Is there really no slug at all that will shoot accurately from the latest version K1 Huben? If not then I have to look into Edgun but I would prefer the Huben. -EDIT: just saw your follow up review and it looks like the K1 likes some slugs after all. But now I'm worried about the slugs moving around in the magazine when putting the gun in certain angles like you said in that video. Oh well...
@gregorkamensek3923
@gregorkamensek3923 3 жыл бұрын
It likes slugs quite well as I have shown in my latest K1 video. They just must not be boat tail design. I likes JSB knockout and probably others as well I just did not have a chance to test any other yet... I am also wokring on a mold for hollow point slug for it.

Would love to hear your opinion on pushing the projectiles forward in the magazine or leaving them flush as they are loaded. some think pushed forward causes issues... but the larger projectiles fill the whole magazine and work fine. I find better accuracy when they are pushed forward.

Hi gregor I have bought the MP Mold for the Huben K1 version 2020 6.35 I have not tested it yet, but I hope that you will soon upload a video testing this slug on the K1. with Jsb pellets everything works great with jsb slugs being too small. I have been told that the slugs that do work are those of FX slug. One question, which lead alloy do you recommend for MP molds? At the moment I have bought pure lead if you tell me which alloy works best for you? Thank you very much for your videos and the professional work that you always present to us.
@gregorkamensek3923
@gregorkamensek3923 3 жыл бұрын
Unfortunately as said in the video, the MP mold for .25 6,35 is not appropriate for 2020 version of K1. The twist rate is too slow. You can use any alloy your gun likes. Generally, airguns prefer closer to pure lead but huben prefers harder alloys. I usually use 1/10 ratio of lead / linotype. But again, i do not recommend shooting MP mold 6,35 slugs in K1 2020 version.

@@gregorkamensek3923 Hi gregor In your opinion, why is it not recommended? What is wrong? @@rubenadrian3067 The thing is that Huben has switched to different barrel that is designed to pellets and has twist rate way too slow to slugs. @@gregorkamensek3923 Hello again So we only have two solutions: change the barrel to hexagonal or make the slugs lighter as FX has done, removing weight in front and behind so that they do not weigh so much, sacrificing mass is not the best solution for those who want power. What do you think about it? Do you see it viable to pass hexagonal Thank you very much
@gregorkamensek3923
@gregorkamensek3923 3 жыл бұрын
@@rubenadrian3067 I changed the barrel for LW poly but still did not get very good results. They were better than with the standard LW barrel but still not very good. Using this barrel, there will still be a lot of challenges. To have a slug that require less twist, these parameters are important: weight to length proportions should be high; mass distribution should be as close to the outer diameter as possible; shape should be appropriate to achieve flaring stabilization. There is still an issue of the slug transit form magazine to the barrel that cannot not be 100% solved. For this purpose, it is better to have slightly harder alloy, not pure lead. I already tested some slugs with standard slug shape (like for example NSA or JSB knock outs). They are not under-stabilized but they have slight spiral to their travel. This means that the problem is in the transition form magazine to the barrel... Also, dimensions of these slugs is usually too small for K1...

Very nice and informative review as always! I have 2 questions. Any thoughts about those fliers that ruin otherwise quite nice groups? Can they be eliminated by sorting pellets or fine tuning the gun? And in your opinion, which performs best overall between those 34 graiers?
@gregorkamensek3923
@gregorkamensek3923 3 жыл бұрын
Generally, I don't think pellet sorting is needed for K1. when I recorded this video, this K1 was not yet broken in and it performs even better now. I also set the pressure and power approximately by my experiences, I did not spend a lot of time playing with in... Generally I think that this is about what anyone who gets the gun will be able to accomplish, those who will put more effort in will be able to get even better results. Some amount of uncertainty (flyers) will always remain with K1 as it shoots from the magazine. JSB King Heavy and King Havey MK2 both perfom very well, MK2 require slightly lower speeds but can be in some cases more accurate (not by much)...

@@gregorkamensek3923 Thanks for the nice explanation. Any plans for showing the current / optimal accuracy with pellets? Preferebly at 100M? Don't worry, you probably did not noticed that I was reviewing only .25 cal version in this video, and only .25 version will not work well with MP molds slugs because they have slower twist rate in 2020 version. I have not tested the 2020 version of .22 caliber yet (they are not available in Europe yet), but judging by the info I have about the twist rate, the MP mold 5.55 should work well in them.
