I could not resist dusting off my little blue three-wheeler Invacar to see if she'd start up, having not been touched since November. Then we had a little hurtle around the Welsh lanes, hitting the dizzy heights of 50mph!

I had a disabled friend who had an Invacar and he loved it. It had a Villiers 2stroke 197cc engine which could be temperamental. It only had one seat but it was in the 60s and he often carried passengers. I suspect the police turned a blind eye. It was before the breathalizer and the car was always parked outside his local pub. He always got home without any problems, he always said the little car took him home. I wonder what would happen if they gave disabled people cars like this now.

I always remember my grandad taking me to the football, the dizzy heights of Greenock Morton. Just before kick off a big side gate would open and around a dozen invacars would smoke their way into the ground and park up in a row at the side of the pitch. It would have been late 60s early 70s I reckon back when I were a lad.

Nice to see an old Dynastart still in use. Did you know that Valeo have brought the concept back? they have a series of products called IBSG that are start-stop motor, alternator, and mild hybrid assist all in one unit. It's also the main drive motor in the Citroen Ami (2022 variant)

The Invacar is definitely my favourite of your car pool! It's the most crazy one and makes a Reliant look like a Volvo when comparing the two. But you are absolutely crazy driving TWC at 50 mph on thrsre è

I'm old enough to remember these being a very common sight, mostly old timers taking them for their weekly shop! They looked absolutely lethal things to take on the road even then, but the fact that they were given out for free to disabled persons to give them some independence is pretty awesome. Thanks for keeping this piece of history on the road, but be careful!

TWC is easily the most infectious car of the fleet, and I mean that in the best way. Whenever you go for even a short hoon in her, she just brings all the smiles. Thanks Ian, you've made my day much brighter.

This is brilliant Ian seeing Tuc out and about again, it must have made her day as it almost looked like she was smiling at the end. I guess it's a sign that I'm getting old but at least one person remembered the Invacar when I wore my Tuc t shirt to work a few weeks ago. Others thought I was just a bit mad, maybe both are true.

I remember a guy who lived next town 6 miles away. He would bomb around in his in car at very high speed. I thought is was so cool as a kid. His had the 10 inch mini wheels. My 1956 oval Beetle i owned used to do the oil smoke after sittng a while over winter. I love air cooled motors. I have bought a 412 VW and soon in the pipe line a Tatra 603.

boxer engines often display those cold start up oil plumes . Same on a BMW R motorcycle. Even the BMW K100 (flat inline 4) did the same thing. It happens because after the engine is shut off the (hot)oil film on the cilinder walls runs down to the lowest point in the bores where it accumulates and cools off. Then when you do the next cold start that pooled oil burns off. No biggy.

In the early 1970s, after a gig, i had a lift in the back of one, hugging a pair of spotlights from Elephant & Castle all the way to Colliers Wood. I knew three friends who all had these amazing little cars. I mean, i've driven lawn mowers with bigger engines. The thing is, like most things if used properly, they were perfectly safe, same as the Robin Reliants. So out of interest, what is their miles per gallon? I mean at one time i had a moped that only did 38mph, but gave me my independance and that did 153 miles per gallon and 15 miles on reserve and possibly 2 miles on fumes in the fuel pipe.

I do remember these in the 1970's but disabled were rarely seen out and about, NHS wheelchairs weren't the height of luxury either, it wasn't really till the middle/late 1980's thing began to change, the charity motability came about and thing have drastically changed since then, you definitely couldn't get a good modern wheelchair in TWC though. Great to to see TWC out and about again Mr HubNut.

I am from US across the pond. I would love to have tuwc as a disabled veteran in a wheel chair and have difficulty feeling with my feet those hand controls are great. I wish we had those for sale here powered by tesla battery!

I'm always full of admiration Ian when you go "full send" with TWC. You have shown in earlier videos it takes a fair bit of gumption to get the light blue peril skipping along or even just driving normally. Fair play to the disabled in those years of Invacar usage they were brave souls.
