I still love the fact Hamster kept Oliver, of all the cars we saw on TG and TGT that they fannied about with, Oliver is certainly the best of the bunch, so glad he restored & kept it!!! As for the rest fo the show, yeah, so many cars that used to be common, now fading away and becoming valable collectables, even the seemingly common Volvo breezeblocks... :P

Volvo 340 also had a Renault 1.7 as well. I know as I got a very late 9 year old one when I was 21 (as such a cool guy...) and it let me down in anything other than sunshine. Valentine's Day 2000 it cut out again in light drizzle and I went the full Basil Fawlty on it in rush hour traffic and police coming in the opposite direction asked me if I could calm down. "But it always lets me down and I've had enough". Had it for three miserable years - one of the cars I was really pleased to see the back of.

Both the Pony and the Lantra reminded of my late grandfather. He had several Hyundais back when I was a kid: 2 first gen Excel (a light blue 3 door, which survived 2 roll overs and a brown 5 door that was later painted beige), a light metallic pink Accent sedan, a silver 2nd gen Excel sedan and a silver 1st gen Elantra. Both of the silver cars had black vinyl seats, power everything; including the antenna, tachometer, 5 speed transmission and A/C, very well equipped cars for the price. Despite what many may say about early Hyundas, I can’t remember a single complaint regarding quality or reliability, they always started and never broke despite all the torture they had to endure from the old man who always was a terrible driver and just got even worse as he aged. I miss those simpler times when he and the cars were around.

So many Espaces, Bx-es and XMs! - You almost never see them any more, here in Sweden. And so many other familiar faces, long gone... I had a few nice car-spottings driving home from work this week that would suit this even perfectly: a nice Peugeot 405 (can't remember last time I saw one), a 90s Mazda 626 (the one with built-in spoiler in the hatchbak-lid) a 2CV Dolly (cream and dark red) a Saab 90 and a bay-window VW bus in that typical pea-green.

2:23 For the nerds out there who would be interested in what all the abbreviations mean on this sticker: * PV is Poids à Vide (Empty Weight). What I'm not sure about is whether that includes all necessary fluids to operate the vehicle. In kilograms. * PTC has then evolved into PTAC: Poits Total Avec Charge (Total Weight With Load). Newer stickers only added the A for Avec. In kilograms. * PTR means Poids Total Roulant (Total Rolling Weight), it has since evolved into PTRA, Poids Total Roulant Autorisé (Total Allowed Rolling Weight). In kilograms. * L x L is Longeur x Largeur (Length x Width), although in later stickers, the second L has become an l (not capitalised). Both units in meters. * S, Surface, is the surface on the ground (basically, product of length by width). In square meters.

I had an L-reg AX forte.... Was the face-lift fuel injected AX gt. So the M regger must be a face-lift I reckon. The orange indicator colour probably compliments the small ferrous spots on the clean white bodywork 👍
@chriswyatt94332 жыл бұрын
I am the AX indicator offender, this is the first time I’ve been rumbled and I can confirm that it is indeed a facelift! The original lights disintegrated in typical AX fashion and I lost a lens at speed, so I went with some orange ones as they really compliment the rust. I wasn’t too concerned about the originality aspect as it has already had the 1.1 ditched in favour of Saxo VTS running gear so it’s not quite how it left the factory.
@ftw15402 жыл бұрын
@@chriswyatt9433 nice work sir. In no way was I disrespecting your AX, I had a gt, then a forte and loved them both. The gt was an awesome estate car as it had carburettors. Seems the mdf was stronger than the car💪💪
