Hubsan's Best Drone? H501S Review

H501S (tinyurl.com/ju...) is a beast of a quadcopter, all for ~$220. It features GPS stabilization, Altitude Hold, Follow Me, Return to Home, and a host of other neat specifications. There is a built-in camera that offers decent, but unstabilized 1080p footage and photos. Mine also has a ND filter on it, which helps cut out the jello.
I've filmed this using a GitUp2 and Firefly 7S action cameras, mounted onboard the H501S using a simple velcro + dampener mount. You can use a credit card mount, or a GoPro dampener mount for it easily (link below)

the reason ive always loved this quad. is because. when i fly it . it shows. me what and how the quad.is flying with all the bounzzing. and all. i love it. it be soothing. me When i fly it so. smooth. and comfortable. flyer. I love my Hubsan! Greatest drone for the $$!! Show me better and I'll buy it. This baby has so many features and is $200 or less (September 2018). I'm thinking of buying a second just to shelf it.

Been having Fun with the Baby's. Every time i get a chance. To fly these HERE. my baby's. William Richmond I did initially, as you can see in the video I didn't go very far with it. however, once I popped a new 2.4ghz sma pigtail cable in ( extremely easy) I've been getting amazing range, well over 300m

Just a quick question a year later for you...do you have any suggestions as to the best post processing stabilization software for my action cam (Yi Lite)? Other than adobe’s warp? Giovani Yester hey! Really appreciate you checking in and thanks for the kind words! I am still flying this quadcopter, and it works great, even with a few rough Landings. I've experimented with several different stabilizers to get the best footage. Currently, my favorite is using the sjcam sj6 legend internal stabilizer, which works very well. However, I found that Microsoft hyperlapse does actually a very good job at stabilizing it, and it's currently free right now for the Pro Edition if you contacted them for a serial code as the purchase option has an error right now. Sony Vegas and KZbin stabilizers work decently, as well.

Really like the FireFly 7s set up. So, with the FireFly mounted on the 501s how much battery time do you lose during flight? And is the stabilization all due to the FireFly or is it in combination with the editing? Thanks in advance.🍕

I was getting around 10 minutes of flight time, maybe more. Stabilization in this video was from both firefly and the post-processing. Thanks for watching!

Great idea using action cams with their own stabilizers for this one. That is its only 'con' in my opinion.

Try this out! kzbin.info/www/bejne/hqaxmZyAdruoo5I It's basically a credit card/gift card chopped up and attached with two zip ties. Camera mounted using velcro straps, to camera and to drone. Someone mentioned on the H501S FB group that this might lead to drone getting too hot. I have not had that experience though.

The difference is in the length of time it takes for the motors to turn off if the quad is at a 90% angle. v1.1.21 cuts the motors off after 2 secs at a 90% angle, v1.1.22 turns motors off after 5 secs because more aggressive flyers do flips and you don't want the motor to turn off after 2 secs when u are doing flips.

I’ve been flying the same drone it’s wicked awesome, I’ve been learning tricks and flying it near rapids and waterfalls ect you can check it out on my channel still learning editing ect budgets tight but I’ve been managing
